Double Cab Long Bed -- Jumpy

Hey all,
I've had my Taco for about 6 months now. The only issue I have is that when I get out on the highway the back end of it jumps up and down alot. Its enough to make my girlfriend nausous. I took it back to Toyota and they told me that it is normal for a truck with that long of a wheelbase.

Does anyone else with a Double-Cab with the long bed have this issue? If it is just because it is that long can anyone think of anything I can do to reduce that jumpiness?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
That sounds like a BS response from the Dealership. I have a DC LB 4X4 and it rides like a Cady on the highway. Just asked my wife if she thought it was rough and she said she never noticed it being jumpy on the highway.

I would ask another dealer. You might have some bad shocks.

jhodge83,

Thanks for the TSB, but I am little concerned by the warning about the "rear suspension firmness", sounds like it could make my issue worse.

Anyone have any thoughts on this.

Thanks again,
Scott

if i'm on the highway and hit bumps, my rear end really jumps. i was towing an s-10 on a tow dolly this past weekend and the cab wouldnt bounce, but the bed would, which i thought was odd. but a few people have already had the tsb done and i've got my appointment friday morning.

The added weight and length of a DC long bed should make the ride extremely smooth. I would go back to that dealer and tell them that they need to figure it out. My 4 cylinder Access Cab PreRunner is light with 4WD suspension on it. It has a rougher ride than most Tacomas, but it is still not jumpy.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Yeah, having a long heavy truck should not make it jump. The dealer is full of sh!t. I know this is a stupid question but have you messed with your rear tire pressure any? If its actually jumping it sounds like your rear tires are over-inflated. you may want to take a few psi out and see how it rides if you havn't already tried this

I've got the same setup and everyone always says it has such a non-truck like ride. I don't have the TSB yet and I'm worried it could make it stiffer.

I've noticed that the ride gets better with more weight in the truck. Try weighing down the truck a few hundred pounds and see if that helps.

I could see that if both of you are coming from Lincolns and Cadillacs you might think the Taco is a rough ride.

I have the same issue cusas6. I have an access cab trd sport. I plan on getting the TSB done, but my worries are the same as yours. Will it make it worse?
