Was a knuckle head and backed into a tree with my 05 DCLB sr5 last weekend, it has a chrome bumper with a nice dent in it now.

I have been going through Craig's list for a good used one. Wondering how hard it is to replace and whether any 2nd generation rear bumper will fit the truck?

Was thinking about having one custom painted to match the truck, but suddenly see the benefit of the more common chrome version. Although the new limited edition Tacomas with the black bumpers look good :)

    Would those fit?

I have this one and I love the shit out of it.

But if you're looking for a more stock one, hit up craigslist to see if they have one for sale. Too bad you're not closer to FL, I'd sell you my old one WITH the class4 hitch receiver.

Keep monitoring the for sale section on here. I did the exact same tree-fu to my 07 color matched bumper, and I replaced it with a chrome. There are lot's of folks buying the offroad model that want to replace their chrome bumper with color match and they will sell the original on here pretty cheap.

I found a fairly new one for around $125 shipped, if I recall correctly.

If the big brackets themselves aren't bent you can just replace the outer shell fairly easily by removing a few fasteners and trim pieces. I think there are pictures of that process somewhere on here too.

Someone, please correct me, but I thnk the 05 -11s are the same with 12 -14 being a different style.

I had a local craigs lead for a bumper for a 2013 sr5 bumper. The local toyota dealer said that it changed after 2008. They said 2005-2008 and 2008-2014.

Not sure now; passed on the bumper, didht want to take a change.

I wish I would've seen your post this morning, I replaced my chrome one on my 2006 for the all-pro pictured up there and threw my chrome one away at the dump earlier today.

OK, Im going to grab the one I saw on Craigs list, its chrome rear bumper off a 2013 with the SR5 package. Hopefully it will work for a 2005.

Some posts say all bumpers are the same, the dealership says they changed after 2008. Not sure the different years are for the colored version or the chrome version.

Guess Ill roll the dice and find out this weekend.

I installed a hitch on my truck and basically you have to remove the bumper (just leave it hanging) when you install the hitch. Fairly easy < 1 hour. A second pair of hand to hold it up for 5 Min when put the first couple bolts in is REALLY helpful!
