I prefer to run the correct weight oil and a block heater. A warm engine will get oil flowing faster than a cold one, and the lower weight oil won't compensate enough to offset the difference a block heater makes.

My 2013 fj with the newer style 4.0 v6 called for 0-20 my 15 tacoma v6 4.0 calls for 5w 30. Still not a excuse for a dealership to put the wrong oil in your truck when the oil cap an the manual both say 5w30. Thats why i do it myself. I took my 2015 tacoma in for first oil change an low and be hold they over filled it. Was just a little over but still over. I dropped it soon as i got home. An decided i would gaf the 2yr free oil changes an do it myself along with suggested maintenance just for my piece of mind. Atleast then if it is wrong i know its on me.

My 2015 TRD Off Road with 4.0 V6 has 14k on it now. The first two "free oil changes the tech put 0-w20 in and I caught it when reviewing the invoice. Pointed out to the Service Manager that my engine requires 5-w30 and he sent it back to be changed. After a few minutes went to look in the service bay and it was on the lift with the oil collector under it. I hope they actually changed it.

Due for another oil change within 2 weeks and will insist that my service order have large bold print stating to use only 5-w30 oil only. My confidence level is not high as they are 0 for 2 right now.
