Ive got some "clunk" in the front end that I can't seem to ID. It only seems to happen on heavy acceleration or when going over a hump/bump in the road. I thought it might be the hubs, but not really sure. Oh and I can feel the clunk in the gas pedal through my foot. Anyone have an idea of what it might be or a good guess of where/wht I shld look at?

    Thanks for your help TW!

I seem to recall an issue posted on Toyotanation.com related to some aluminum block up front around the bumper that caused this.

ok so idk if this is the source of this clunk, but I was looking under the truck today and started seeing if I could get anything to move. I was wondering how much the CV axle is supposed to move? I stole this pic cuz its dark and I couldn't get a good pic, but its the part where the red arrow is:

As far as I know not at all. In and out that is.
    Not in a circular motion.
They move around with your suspension. If the truck is stock It might not be that.

truck is stock minus wheel spacers and 265/75r16 tires. When I was under the truck, I could move the drivers side axle maybe 1/4-1/2 inch around with my hand pretty easily. The passenger side was a lot tigher maybe moving 1/8 inch or less. The noise seems to only happen when I go over bumps or dips in the road

The axle is supposed to have some play. Not a lot, I couldn't put a number on this.. maybe like a 16th back and forth? if that! there's a little snap ring type compression thing on the end of the axle that goes into the dif and that's what holds it in. It's a tight squeeze (as you know because you had it out and reinstalled it) but its not a compressed joint, there needs to be a little play.

I don't know if that made any sense.. I have an easier time explaining things and pointing at them with hand gestures and stuff..

No, not always. But it makes the noise pretty much anytime I start the truck. I looked at the motor mounts and they looked fine. Any specific way to tell they are broken?

Yea I knida get wht your saying. I dont see how tht being loose is cuasing the noise. I really doesn't move too much, but I wanted to ask for sure. Truck 4 wheel drive works fine so idk :notsure:

Check your LCA bolts. I had mine clunk simular to what your explaining. Tightened them to 110ftlbs.
Axle is normal with that much play.

Also had this problem after lift. Just check the bolts on suspension components and such and see if anything is loose :notsure:

Can you take a video of the sound and post it up?

I've got a click in my left front somewhere. Happens more when turning right and going over bumps.

This is what mine sounds like:

    http://youtu.be/auBHWWVN46c

Haven't had time to check my ball joint but that could be the cause. I'm not actually sure how to even check if it is the ball joint?

Two different suspension shops both said it's not the suspension so I don't know WTF is making the sound??

    Good luck!
