My dealership has been calling, they want to buy my truck, offering more than I owe and giving me a good deal on a new vehicle, I bought my truck used 2 years ago and not sure if I want to start over, my truck is getting close to the way I want it. But it is a chance to get into a shorter wheelbase or a FJ with no mileage, what would you do?

    Too few to list.
For me, it would depend on a a few things such as payment, current mileage, ability to switch my parts/mods over to the new.

So you'd pay off your existing truck, have some money for a down payment, but basically you'll be starting over on payments and starting over on mileage. Tough call.

Seconded. I'm sure you can swap some parts over but can you swap all of your mods?
If it's not that high mile a vehicle how much do you really gain?
I wouldn't trade my '13 with 50K for a '15 even if they did offer me what I have in it and a great deal on a new one.
You also have to consider whether or not your payment would undergo any changes as its probably going to be a little steeper on a new truck.

Also I would be worried about a jump in insurance...That will also affect your monthly truck expenditure overall

I'd really be too lazy to switch over parts but have done so before.

If I were you I would keep it. That's just my opinion but it is a gorgeous truck and if it's almost where you want it why not keep the money you would dump on a down payment and put it back into your baby?

    Again just my opinion

Is this at Mayfield? They contacted my gf about her Corolla last week. They haven't contacted me but I did only purchase the truck from them like 3 months ago. Offering you more than you owe isn't a factor in anything (if you paid it off cash and they offered you $3000 that's more than you owe). If I were considering trading I would look at what I have in it and what they are offering and see what it cost me to have over the last 2 years. Typically traded at the dealership is the worst way to get rid of your truck. Private sale all the way. Last FJ I traded they gave me $15,500 (that from up from the initial offer of $13,000) Two days later it was on their lot for $26,500. It sold in 2 weeks. Remember these guys arnt your friends. Their in the business of flipping cars for cash.

When did they see your truck last. I find it hard to believe they want such a heavily modified vehicle. There are a lot of liability issues that could come from selling your truck with all those parts. I would keep it it looks really good.

Is this not the same "deal" that every dealership sends out every year? We'll pay off your car loan and get you a good deal on a new car is practically a slogan with dealerships I've used. They just want to entice you enough to get you into the showroom and see how much nicer a new car is, and offer you an easy transition into a new loan, that way you'll keep making payments and never actually own anything. They will never offer to buy your vehicle without checking it out first for condition and mileage. When they inspect it, they'll point out everything that is wrong with it and then say that they can still take it as a trade in towards the new car you're sold on but they can't offer you X amount because of reasons Y and Z.

If you want a different car then I'd say go and see what comes of it, but I get these cards in the mail and phone calls with the same offer several times a year, as do thousands of others. It's a marketing ploy to drum up new sales, and make money. "We are looking for good, clean used cars and are willing to purchase yours and offer you a great deal on a new model" is usually how they word it.

It's going to take one hell of a deal to get me to give up my truck, just don't think I can start from scratch when there is nothing wrong with my truck, thanks everyone for your help
