upper ball joint change out drivers side

    2008 tacoma 4x4 whats the easiest way to change out drivers side upper ball joint?

    If you have the tools then no need to take off the UCA (if i remember correctly -- there is enough room for the press). I didnt so I took off the whole UCA and sent it off to the local shop and replaced everything, ball joint and bushings. They pressed them out and all the new stuff in. Either way, once you are in there its pretty easy to remove the UCA.

    In Mexico right now so labor is dirt cheap. for both sides (BJ and bushings on UCA) and new brake pads the labor was a tad over $25USD and I got to supervise everything

    There are several threads here that show the tools needed. You can probably rent the press in your area.. make sure the bushings are in good condition.
