I was contemplating on going this route as well, but my instinct told me to route it outboard away from the exhaust.

i did that. I went down through the cross member and out right inside centerline of the passenger rear lower control arm bolt. Exhaust is plenty far away and have not had any heat issues.

I thought about that and have been checking it throughout the day driving around. It stays up against the frame and didn't melt.

Thanks for the heads up on this guys. I love free mods and they seem to be the cheapest. Or $5 mods for the hose.

I just did this tonight after reading the thread and used a 3/8" ID hose and male to male adapter. Of course mine is leaking at the adapter. I will have to fix it this weekend. I thought I could get away with a hose clamp rather than a zip tie.

I think I'm so upset because I got absolutely covered in grime doing it (my frame is covered in Fluid Film) and I still saw some light surface rust in places even with Fluid Film application since new. Having a bad day before that didn't help.

When I try this again I'm making my life easy and taking the wheel off.

I found it helps if you turn the wheel all the way to the left.

OP did you use a fitting or did you simply just slide the new tube over the original and tape? Also what size tube did you use ?

I used a 3/4 inch hose that used to be on my flu-val aquarium canister filter. then I wrapped it with electrical tape for insulation. The size of the extension tube is just the right fit for the a/c drain hose without using hose clamps or fittings. just slide it all the way in and at the end of the drain, use zip tie or electrical tape to secure the extension hose where it will not move or get pulled. Hope this helps.

affix it anywhere you feel comfortable doing it. As long as it doesn't move or fall off and won't rub with any moving parts..

On the 2014 if you look up from underneath there is a metal tab that is part of a bracket that the wires are attached to that is affixed to the frame. I just zip tied to that.

There's obviously a few ways to do this. This is my version:

I bought 5/8" OD x 1/2" ID tube, lubed up the end of a super Sharpie and jammed it in there to stretch it out a little.

    c6d30168-0fdf-41a3-8320-dda94d1dff8e_zps_a6317b75beb3ed502ec65791493b7f4db9447b53.jpg

With a little lube on the tip of the drain hose, I quickly pulled the marker and slid the clear hose over the factory hose. (Note: in this pic you can see the crusty white stuff that was getting all over the wires and frame from the ac drain water)

Wrapped it in quality 3M electrical tape.

I ran the hose to the outside of the frame. I pulled the rectangular plastic plug that is just below the rubber shield and drilled two 3/16" holes in it so I could run a zip-tie through it. Ignore the other two holes I drilled. I drilled them first and then realized I needed the zip-tie to go the other way. Filled -em with silicone before reinstall.

Went along under the frame and put another zip tie through two bolt holes in the underside of the frame (this was tough, had to use a pick and flashlight to get it pulled back out). Hose ends a couple inches outside the frame.

    e1d44ff1-f35e-4a0d-a073-33ba420933f7_zps_6e65a0a70e8651a564d820a75ac6b502a63c9e45.jpg

I may shorten it up in the future, but I'll roll with it for now and see how it goes. I don't off-road so I'm not worried about it getting crushed between a rock and the frame. My only concern at this point is freezing up in the winter.

By the way...this was my first mod as a new Tacoma owner. I'm sure there will be many more to come.

I extended mine thru and just below the frame, hangs down about 1"
I bought a brass coupling and some rubber hose, works great.
I secured the hose to the coupling with hose clamps.

Since I went through the trouble of taking the picture...and for those who want to know how to access the ac drain the easiest...

All you need to do is turn your wheels all the way to the left when you park so you have access to the back wheel well area of the passenger side front tire. You will see a black rubber mat that is held to the frame with plastic push-in type tabs. If you reach your fingers around the top one on the right (#1) you can pinch the retaining tabs on the backside and push it out. Once the top flops down, do the same to the second tab (hole #2) and the top of the mat will fold over enough that you can have easy access to the drain. I am pointing at it with my index finger. It is hiding behind that frame piece the mat was attached to.

    1671831f-e9ba-4b84-a99a-3d59c72aaf10_zps_7e0124d638706ae11e038cfd6423c5076b288d28.jpg

Getting the truck up on jack stands and pulling the tire would make it way easy, but you really don't have to. There's enough room to get both arms in there if the wheel is turned out. I just sat on a low step stool and got it done.
