No money, all went to truck...
So my battery died on monday and it still under warranty. called service desk and was told that they can't change it till next wednesday and if I change it myself it will void warranty. I laughed at the lady and said you have to be kidding me. She got upset.

Anyway I spoke directly to service rep and he was more accommodating and said he'd try to work me in sooner. He also said if I buy a battery he MIGHT be able to get a refund for me 50/50 chance. I'm taking it in on Saturday to see him.

The only reason to speak at all to a service receptionist is to ask to speak to someone else. Good luck with the battery. Phone ladies get paid to answer calls. Its the service technician that helps anybody.

THIS is all that matters. You tell them it is a safety and security issue. You want a new battery.

Hey! That's not always true and having a smart good woman on your side is valuable.

I ask: "Are you able to help me with this ?" Or..."Do you know about this?"...or "Are you the person I should be talking to about this?" and wait....wait... wait for it

Cause these receptionists are used to being patronized and they hate it.

Sometimes it works for the best..other-times not.

2 years in Hawaii ...your battery shouldn't be dieing if you kept the electrolyte filled. Extreme heat is hard on battery life. Curious ? How do you know it's dead? Hydrometer or Multimeter and have you tired to charge it?

My 2012's battery just died this week as well on Tuesday, dealer took me that same day without an appointment. New battery under warranty, I'm very shocked the stock battery could not make it more then 2.5yrs and it died without warning, no slow starts at all before it died. drove to store, parked, came out cranked for 1 sec nothing..

Have you taken the time to add some distilled water to the battery compartments at all since you bought the truck?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the OEM batteries are maintenance free

You would be wrong. They are most certainly not maintenance free. The 2 covers sitting on top of the battery snap off easily with a little screwdriver and underneath you will see the individual cells. Just add small amounts of distilled water to bring each up to the proper fluid level being very careful not to overfill.

My hunch is the folks with premature battery failure after a couple of years have not been diligent about their battery maintenance.

Another possibility is terminal corrosion between the lug and the post.
