I'm running 265/75/ BFG AT's on my 2.7, DC, PreRunner (The most underpowered version of a 2nd gen Tacoma you can get) And while I notice the extra weight and drag, it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

You might feel a little, but it shouldnt be bad.

I went from stock 17's and michelins or whatever to 20's and 33" BFATKO's and the difference is pretty huge, big power loss but what else would you expect. the weight difference is HUGE. Just switched back to the stockers for a week just to see what it was like and i couldnt stay under 80 on the freeways... Guess i cant have my cake and eat it too... unless someone wants to sell me their supercharger....

6lbs per tire over the stockers and It feels like the Taco has been sandbagged. That is probably why Toyota puts smaller/less aggressive on the Taco in the first place that really don't compliment the trucks or the wheel-wells. :(

Wheel wells are designed to provide space for articulation and steering clearance, not aesthetics or tire/fender proportion. :) :stirthepot:

    Interesting thread.
I came here because my taco is feeling sluggish too.
AND as it turns out, I just got new tires. New A/T tires when I did have highway tires on it before.
Maybe it's just the tires. I hope.

Every choice in a multi use vehicle (any type) is a compromise.

Only way to avoid that is have a vehicle 'dedicated' to a singular purpose.

You gave up something for looks. Simple as that.

yea, me too...about the same deal...i'm in an 4x4 AC with the 2.7l
and went up to LT265/75/16 and really haven't noticed that much
of a change. I was worried about the extra tire weight, but it
hasn't been a thing to worry about.

    Maybe an Ebrake drag?
