Not a bad rate for shipping a 56" long hunk of metal to Hawaii.

Installed my tailgate cap system this weekend. I love the look and protection, the extra little bit of weight on the tailgate is great too. Great work Chad!

Lots of very happy customers so far.

Price is $80 plus shipping. Includes torx bit and gasket material, pre-cut to size.

    System uses factory bolts.

PM for shipping quote and ordering details.

I am stuck between this piece and the relentless aluminum reinforcement. Which do you think would provide more strength to the tailgate overall?

This product will provide good "bending" resistance ... and looks a hell of a lot better... almost invisible like.

Ever thought of doing this for the bedsides as well? May not be the case with everyone, but mine are just as flimsy as my tailgate cap (Or maybe my tailgate cap is not as flimsy?) I know they receive much less stress than the tailgate but I think it would be neat to match. Just a thought.

I like it but I'm also worried about the gap. I live in a state with salt on the roads in winter. The gaskets could absorb the wetness and salt and the rust. Would this be a possibility?

I live in western New York, in ski county, so basically, the road salt capital of the universe.

The gasket is closed cell foam, so it won't absorb anything.

As far as anything getting trapped under the cap, it can't be any worse than the factory cap or side rail caps.

Do you think that the plastic cap provided by Toyota is waterproof ... the foam provides a hell of a lot more "protection".

The bed rail caps and tailgate cap that Toyota provides hold water like a sponge.

On the rare occasion that I actually wash my truck, water drips out from underneath these things for an hour after I dry it, then I have to go back and wipe it down so it doesn't leave streaks.

Received mine on Monday and installed that night. Very high quality piece and less than 10 minutes to install. Step #1 was crucial to the installation process. I called an audible and went to step 12, which was beer #2 while sitting on my newly reinforced tailgate.

It really adds some strength to the tailgate overall, I have no worries that it will now hold up to any abuse I can put it through. For those worried about the gap, it really is a non issue. Once you get it installed, you barely notice it.

I might go outside and hit step 12 myself.
