Does anyone know where I can find this resistor...it's for the overhead temp module or the exact measurement I know it's a 510 smd but I don't know the watts

Can you measure the length and width?

It looks like it might be a 1206 size resistor, which
means it's dimensions are (0.120"x 0.060"y), if so
it will probably be 1/4 watt rated.

If its bigger like a 2512 size, might be up to 1/2 watt.

    Digikey.com is your friend.

    Good luck.

    Also,

Those are referred to as 'chip resistors' and from the pix
looks like the resistance value is 5.1 ohm, 1% tolerance.

My 510 resistor fell off of the board and I could not find it to solder it back on and fix the compass /temp display.

What you are referring to is a surface mount (SMD) 51 ohm resistor.

I went to radio shack and bought a 5 pack of 47 ohm 1/2 W resistors for $1.50

These are the closest they had to 51 ohm and they work just fine.

Now these resistors are not ment to be soldered onto flat surfaces but it can be done if you are good at soldering. Mine has been there for 3 years of some hard off-roading and it still works great. I have fixed 2 other TW members compass display using the same method and all still work well.
