Why should a customer be painting a frame on a new vehicle ??? I'd buy a can of paint from the service department and hand it to the Senior Dealer Manager and tell HIM to borrow a wire brush and crawl under there and do it himself. This is just as insulting as having him tell you to do it..

FWIW, I've owned a LOT of old trucks, and I worked at a several shops for a while. I live in a part of the country where there's salt on the roads from October thru April, and I've seen a LOT of rusted-out frames. Never ever seen any weld beads rust through. It's always been the frame material itself.

However, certainly stripping the current rust and painting and coating won't hurt anything.

Thanks for the input. I am going to use Fluid film for now. Hope it works. Other areas on the frame showed some surface rust. My fluid film kit is on the way. I got 10% off with tacoma promo code. We must buy a lot of his products lol.
