Im buying new Michelin LTX M/S2 this week, The E rated tire is only $10 more per tire. would the heavier tire be any better or last longer? I seldom leave the pavement.

Will cost you at the pump and in braking distance going with E.

If you dont leave the pavement you have not worries with C or standard rated tires.

That is the same tire we run on our 3/4 ton truck. Might be a little overkill. Truck will probably have a rougher ride.

I run E load Firestone MTR. VERY rough ride, but the tire lasts longer for me than a normal C radial. I had Dick Cepek FC II's before the firestones which were a very good ride.

run a P rated or load range C tire on these trucks unless you do serious off roading. Your MPG will be better, and ride will be much better.

Go with the P tire. I got mine at Costco, they ordered the E-rated (LT) tire by mistake. I refused to accept them. They got the P tire in a few days later, and they were about $80 less for the set. Two years - great tire, you'll notice the difference the first time you drive when it's wet.

If you actually put stuff in the bed of you truck I'd go with the Load Range C tire, not a P or E. The E will ride rougher/stiffer and these trucks really don't have the load carrying capacity or the braking power to be carrying a load that would need an E rated tire.
