    Good afternoon guys.

I have a 2010 DCSB base I have done some work on and the trouble codes I have might pertain tot he TRD CAI I installed.

I do not have a CEL and my truck runs fine, or at lease I think it runs fine but just the other day I bought a new code scanner, for I like having one around should I need it. For shits and giggles I hooked it up to my Taco and surprisingly I found 2 trouble codes.... P0300 random misfire and a P0125 Insufficient Coolant Temperature For Closed Loop Fuel Control.

So I looked into fixing these codes and found that it could be the battery, spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel pressure, O2 sensors, large vacuum leak, dirty air filter, dirty MAS or the thermostat. So before I spend $600 fixing all these bloody things I was hoping someone out there ran into the same issue with their truck and actually knows what is going on here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    J

p0125 is for bad t-stat. which also could cause a misfire.
i would replace the t-stat and clear codes and see what happenes

    Thank you BlackTaco2042

I did swap out the t-stat and now I have 16 codes but still no CEL. I am wondering if my battery isn't on its way out????

I would suggest two things: 1) clear ALL of your codes and retest. 2) since you have a code scanner, see if it has a data function. Watch to see if ECT gets above 180 when the P0125 code sets.

When you replaced the thermostat, did you install it correctly, and what temp thermostat did you get?

I honestly did not think there was anything to installing the t-stat. I put the new one in the same way (direction wise) the old one came out. I got a 180 degree t-stat.

The one thing that is fishy is even if I do clear the codes and immediately test again the codes are back. I am taking the truck to an auto parts store to do a battery load test to see if that might be the case....

My code scanner does not have a data feature though....

The truck does run great and sounds great but I am very nervous that something small might be wrong and that might lead to something bigger. )-:

I really appreciate you guys's help.

After the battery, altinator and charging system check came back 100% I have 13 codes.

I don't know what the heck is going on but I am going to let Toyota figure this one out. My truck has to go for an oil change in 400 miles so the timing is almost perfect.
