I would imagine 2 years is pretty average. I like the Bosc wipers as well.

Thanks. I have tried others but same results. Never in my life have I had to change wiper arm, the spring tension feels good, but I wonder if the arms are the issue, '06 model. Maybe use some of the good glass cleaner and different wipers when I take these back.

I have never needed to replace my wipers . Its a 2010 mind you but they are still like new .
I use aquapel to treat the windshield and ultraviolet spray on the wiper blades .
Clean your blades when you wash the truck .

Wipers are supposed to be replaced every 6-12 months.

I'm lucky to get 6 months out of even Bosch Icons or Trico Neoforms

do you buy just the rubber blade or the whole blade assembly (other than the actual arm thats bolted to the truck)
I wash mine ever time i wash the truck, i just take the wash sponge that i do the rest of the truck with and use the car soap.

Same here. They streak like crazy too. I keep Rain-X on my windshield also. Back to Bosch.

    I added a bolt once...

The Rain-X orange wiper fluid is great...I quit using the Rain-X applied to the window about two year ago now...

Never tried the wipers...might give them a try.
I get almost a year out of wiper in the Pacific Northwest (rain....)

    I usually look for sales...

I have tried so many brands and none work for me. I even put a new pair on and the first time I used them, they bounce or scrape when going up. They won't "break over" or wipe the windshield but instead they "scrape". Kinda like scraping ice off the windshield, they do well on the way down. Anyone understand this??

For me. when they chatter or "hop" , They usually only do it in one direction. If so, I radially adjust the arm so to keep the blade at 90 degrees to the windshield. I find that if the blade holder is not perpendicular to the glass it has a tendency to "hop". I usually adjust with an adjustable wrench on the flat of the main arm. For "lines" in the wiping I usually can fix them up by running some very fine sandpaper on the full length of the wiper edge - But that means you need new wipers .... IMO

I also bought the Rain X Latitude thinking I was getting a superior product and ended up having to replace them in a matter of months due to streaking. Went back and bought the cheapest brand I could find figuring if I was going to have to replace them every so many months, I might as well do it cheaply. The cheapies have lasted longer the the Latitudes and are still holding up well.

I wish our Tacomas had the Hydrophobic glass like on the 4Runners some with.

I've never heard of Aquapel... I know Rain-X can be found pretty easy.

I hate the fact that you have to replace the whole assembly. What happned to refills. I bought refills for my 2009 at the dealer when they had them. Last time I called they said they had to order ten at like $80 and I would have to buy all. I said no thanks. Is it really that much easier just to change the whole thing? No, it is a racket by the parts manufacturers to make more revenue. Be careful when putting the new assembly on. The arm slipped out of my hand and I how have a cracked windshield.

You gotta be kidding me. In New England, what you are saying is akin to, "I only got 200,000 miles out of my tires, what gives?"

I replace my wipers every year at a minimum.

Reviving this thread because my Rain-X latitudes officially suck and I need new wipers. I got 4 years out of my first pair so I figured it was worth another go, but this set has been pretty bad since after the first month (and that was last December). I use Rain-X washer fluid because its awesome.

    Bosch Icons? Anything else?

I really liked Trico NeoForms. Best wipers I've ever bought for lack of noise, no smearing, good longevity, however the clip to hold them to the arm broke at one point and sent one flying in a rainstorm. I may buy another set hoping that was a fluke.

Right now I'm running Bosch Icons. Bought them in July and they're starting to streak a little.

I usually replace wipers right before winter and right after winter. This was just different because I put them on when I bought the truck this summer.
