Ok so where I work, which is pretty much in a very hilly area. My 2.7, DC is not cutting it. With 600-800 lbs in the box, plus tools and supplies. There are some hills my truck barely gets up and over.

I have pondered re-gearing from stock 4.10 to 4.88's but don't want to spend the money, if the difference is negligible. On top of that, if I take a gas mileage hit from going to 4.88's as well.

That said I love the truck aside from the weak 4 pot motor. At the time that I got the truck, we were buying a house, and I needed to significantly reduce my household burn, so I dumped my '13 FX4, EcoBoost and got into this '14 Tacoma, DC, PreRunner with the 2.7, and have slowly added a few tasteful mods, wheels and tires (Trying to trick my brain into thinking it's a nice truck) but in the end I'm kind of embarrassed about it, constantly getting blown away at stop lights by plain old Focuses and 15-20 year old Mazda sedans (I know 1st world problems, oh well).

Anyway, wife told me last night shes tired of hearing me complain about the weak motor and says, if you can swing a good deal, go get what you want. I don't want to screw the pouch and get a TRD-Pro, so my practical side found this, and it's 45 min from me.

    TacomaTRD_zpsc8eec23b_60b8785f5c0934d6d76e5c6c57e3570a82cf90f9.jpg

It's a left over 2014, TRD-OR, 4x4, DCSB. Has Nav, the full entune BS, Sat radio, and whatever else is part of the SR5/TRD-OR setup. Dealer wants $35,340 for this truck, which I can afford, but seems absurd (I've spent $50K on an F-150 before, but never more than $25K for a Tacoma) so my question is, what should this truck realistically go for out the door? This dealer is keen on getting full sticker for this. I don't NEED a truck, could happily continue to drive my slow poke PreRunner for 200K miles, but would love to get into this TRD if it was a good deal.

I have read threads here, where some of you say you got a DCSB, TRD-OR new for around $30K, some say OTD, some say plus fees. I don't see them taking $5K off this truck. But I would probably be game at $32-33 ish.

So TW, what do you says?

31-33 Range OTD.. That's my guess. But prices will vary depending on the area etc.

They should knock at least $3k off, maybe $4k. Most dealers aren't going much below $31.5 for the DCSB OR....at least around here. I picked up a DCSB Sport a few weeks ago and they took about $3300 off MSRP

Where do you live Pool? I can hook you up with a financing manager friend at a Toyota dealership where I bought mine from, and you can name your price and see what she can do for you.

PM me if you're interested, I'll give you her cell number

I barely got $500 off my '14, DC, PreRunner when I got it in April. And that was after 3-4 hrs of haggling. Luckily after checking NADA and KBB it looks like the value has barely dropped from what I paid for it.

I paid exactly what I told them I wanted to pay. I got exactly what I asked for for my trade in. 5 minute conversation, tops, then my truck was ordered from Texas.

I ordered mine on Labor Day for $300 over invoice and it is a 2015. Seems to me the dealer should be willing to work quite a bit on a 2014

I've had PoolRunner on many other forums including ToyotaNation going back 10 years or more.

Also what does the "green boxes mean"? I'm too lazy to read forum rules and indexes. Looks like same amount of green boxes, if it's the ones under your screen name?

You should be able to get it 2K under MSRP, if they wont budge go for a 2015. If the power bothers you that much then i'd say go for the 4.0. I think we all can admit the 2.7 is underpowered.

West coast market seems to be a little more difficult to get a deal. Here in the midwest where people like their Jeeps and Rams and other assorted crap, I wouldn't pay more than $31K for that truck.

The tough thing is these trucks sell themselves. If you don't pay that price, the next guy will and they know that. With that said, that is the perfect 4X4, perfect color, the perfect truck. It is everything a Tacoma 4X4 should be, keep trying to work that deal.

They should give you good money for yours, just try to knock them down a bit to where you feel like you are getting a good deal.

It's perfectly fine for commuter use, or shuttling kids to soccer. But when you try and use it like a truck, on top of that in hilly terrain it just falls on it's face. Had a 2010 V6 I mistakingly sold, that was effortless in same conditions.

Since most people are talking about the truck your looking at, I was going to talk about the regear for your truck. I think 4.88s would be very steep gearing if you are on stock size tires (245 or 265). But you will get much better acceleration, but you will lose mpg on the highway, as I can imagine the rpms will be around 3000-3200 at 65 mph. You could also consider 4.56s for your truck, as those would help out with power, but help keep the rpms lower on the highway.

You only had one when I wrote that, someone wants me to look bad..

Anyway, I picked PeeRunner before I did an internet scan on forum users name Pool Runner since 1994. Sorry. I agree on the 2.7 DCSB being a shitpile.

TrueCar or Costco that truck! Should be able to get close to invoice. Or, at least ask if you can see the invoice. I dont know if they have to show you. But its worth a shot.

yeah truck has JBL, I would imaging every option possible besides the extra bonus items you get on a Baja, TX or Pro.
