It has the sport package without nav. Can the nav be added using the iphone? If not I could just buy a gps unit and hang it off the windshield:)

I have never found a built-in nav that I liked. I don't have any experience with the Toyota system but the Honda system is useless, VW is slightly less so.

I mounted my android phone with a Niteize Steelie mount on the dash and hard wired a micro-usb charger into the fuse box. I use either google maps or Waze (soon to be the same app I assume since google bought waze).

Use caution when using a suction type mount GPS on the windshield. Our dash boards are made of really cheap painted plastic. If the GPS loses suction on the windshield or falls on the dash because you hit a bump etc it will leave an un- repairable mark on the dash.

Voice directions will play through your truck's stereo via the iPhone. No need for anything in addition.

I tried to get that to work yesterday after linking my phone to the radio via Bluetooth. But the voice instructions didn't play through the radio. How do you get the voice directions to work? Thanks.

I like the Entune Nav, I've used it a few times this week for business use and it's better than using my phone or voice over. I like to listen to my JBL system, or my talk shows and don't want the voice over, turn-by-turn constantly cutting in and out.

The Toyota Nav is not as good as My Ford Touch Nav, but it is better than the Nav in my wifes '13 Subaru Outback Limited.

Was your phone in silent mode?

    Is it an iPhone?

I'm in for this. my phone is linked (iphone), but makes no noise when in the truck. no text sound, or nav sound. but it will ring through the speakers for calls.

Yes, I'm using an iPhone 5s with IOS 8. I was talking on my phone through the trucks phone app and when I hung up, I immediately pulled up google maps on my iphone and put in a destination. The phone started navigating, but I didn't hear the voice guidance through the radio, or the phone for that matter. The phone was not switched to silent mode. The phone was connected to the truck via Bluetooth, not USB. Hmmm.

No. I'll try it again today to see if I have any better luck. From your responses, it appears that it should be working.

One tip I can give you is: If there is no sound coming from the phone speakers before it is paired with the truck, then no sound will come from the truck when it is paired.

Try running the phones nav in the house before you go out to the truck and make sure you have sound.

That was good advice. Here's what happened; I started navigation outside of the truck and Google Maps provided voice directions. I got into the truck, started it, and turned the radio onto Satellite. The directions from Google Maps then interrupted the satellite radio and gave voice directions. Great! However, then I stopped Google Maps, and restarted Google Maps while driving, and no more spoken directions over the radio or from the phone.

Next I changed the audio source on the truck radio to my iPhone and was listening to a Podcast when Google Maps directions resumed over the radio. This time they only interrupted the Podcast momentarily while the directions were being spoken. Great! So, to test it, I changed the audio source back to Satellite, and the voice directions from Google Maps stopped.

Sounds like I may have a setting wrong, but I can't figure out what.

In summary right now, if I start Google Maps before starting the truck, I'll get voice directions over the truck speakers on any audio selection. Alternatively, if I select Bluetooth audio, to listen to a Podcast from my iPhone 5S, I'll also get voice Google Map directions over the truck speakers. However, if I start Google Maps with the truck running, and audio selected to anything other than the Bluetooth (iPhone), I won't get Google Map voice directions over the truck speakers or the iPhone speaker.

    Any ideas?

You should only be able to get voice directions through the stereo when the head unit is set to play from the iPod.

Switching to any other source (AM, FM, CD, Satellite) will not allow it (unless I'm missing something).

    edit:

Do you have the base radio, or Entune, or something else?
