Howdy, I've been lurking for a couple of years, but finally joined TW.

I just installed Total Chaos Heim A-arms, OME 884s on Billy 5100s set at .85 on my 2007 TRD Access Cab 4x4 with a shell on the back. I had previously installed air bags prior to the lift when it only had 12K miles, so the original non-TSB leafs were not in bad shape. I'm considering the Wheelers HD 3-leaf AALs to level it out, but need to know what length U-bolts to purchase. Wheelers website doesn't say, and they are closed on Fridays.

One more question: has anyone used a u-bolt flip kit with air bags?

I would rock the wheelers 2in single leaf AAL if you want some more load handeling. i love mine and i drive around 90% of the time with no weight or shell on the back of the truck and it handles load much better. And no need for extra length u bolts.

Call them Monday, PM them here, or write them am e-mail.

IMO I would get new leafs. If they are flat now a AAL will simply be a band aid that will last a year or two and only prolong the inevitable leaf swap.

My stock leafs aren't flat because I've been running air bags since almost new which also helps adjust for loads. I'm primarily looking to level it out (an inch or so low in back) with the new lift in the front, without relying on the air bags when it's not loaded.

Well then thats 100% your call, but springs from 07 that aren't TSB's are very weak to begin with. I have a 08' and already blew out the original springs and a set of TSB springs with the wheelers 3 leaf progressive aal... I haul nothing... thats just from wheeling.

IMO if you plan on driving it until it rusts away go with new leaves.

IMO if you plan on driving it for a year or two go with AAl's.

Single AAL's ride much harsher than progressive aal's, but can;t handle a load like a single aal can.

I just installed the 3 leaf progressive add a leaf last night. U bolts are included, we trimmed them down after everything was finished, they're plenty long.

People make the single AAL's seem like they are rock hard.... not the case, i like the extra firmness to the ride its NOTHING like my 1ton chevy 2500hd.

I just re-read the description on Wheelers site saying that they come with u-bolts, they are just not shown in the picture.

I'm not really looking to increase load capacity, that's what the air bags are for. I'm just looking to level it (or so) back up with the front and maybe increase the rate a little to be similar to the new front springs.

I did 885 springs with the bilsteins set at 0, and the ride is awesome front and rear. I think you'll like that combo. I guess you were going for a full 3 inch lift in the front? I wanted 2.5 and mine is pretty level. Maybe just a bit ass high.

My understanding is that the 885 are taller than the 884s (what I have). I was shooting for 2-1/2 to 3 inches.

I see. From what I read, the 885s with the bilsteins set at zero should be 2.5 so I figure you're probably right around 3. I removed the overload spring from my original leafs in the back, you can leave that in for an additional half inch of lift in the rear if you need it. Here's how mine sits but from this angle it looks a little goofy. New wheels and tires next week!
