When sitting at a light with foot on brake, I can feel a subtle thud or lurch forward. I'm not new to this feeling, had a 2010 PreRunner that did it as well, but was much more pronounced.

Not complaining, just figured Toyota would have programmed the sensation out of the truck by the 2014 model year. It's not a big issue just lightly annoying.

My 2010 V6 PreRunner did it, but my '14 2.7 PreRunner did not.

Not true, having been in the Auto industry for a lengthy period of time, and owned more than 20 vehicles since the age of 16. I can tell you all of the Tacoma's I have owned (except the 2.7 ) are the only vehicles I've noticed that do this.

It's got to be the A/C compressor design, but wouldn't make sense why it's only noticeable on the 4.0 and not the 2.7, if they both have the same compressor, or do they?

Mine does it. Normal, seems to be a little more pronounced on this vehicle then any other one I have ever owned. Though I know how powerful AC compressors have to be to work correctly. Dismissed as normal, and moved on to the bigger fish on the frying pan.

Mine does it. The first time it happened I was like "WTF"
I've now driven 4 other Gen 2 Tacomas and they did it as well.
    I call it normal.

its the trans, these trannys are very agressive in locking up and getting you moving at low rpms (they dont slip much)... so the slight increase in RPMS when the ac compressor kicks in, you feel it as a lurch forward.

My 14 does it, but I had no idea it was related to the AC. My 11 Tundra did it as well from time to time.
