I get a strange chattering from the rear end of the truck whenever i go from a stand still to rolling. It only happens every now and then and when i just begin to roll out of a complete stop. It goes away pretty quickly, maybe 3 seconds after it stops. Any ideas?

does it do it when u turn?

have u replaced the rear diff fluid recently?

what did you use? (synthetic or not)

    did u add friction modifier?

This is assuming by "tacoma trd" you mean TRD Sport?

Yes it does it when i turn, and i was told i should replace the rear diff fluid with LSD fluid. So i got some, drained and filled it, still doing it. The old fluid was black and milky looking, new fluid was synthetic and quite gelatinous..and yep Sport model

Try to find a non synthetic if possible.... it's been said Dino works better for the lsd. Finally add some friction modifier and add the tube to the to the rear end. Hope someone else chimes in.... I'm medicated. Look up equa torque

I know many Tundra's that have similar problems using mobile 1 in the rear diff with the limited slip. They switched to Royal Purple, Lucas, Redline etc and that works for them. Easy fix if that's your problem.

So i shouldn't be going with a synthetic? Also, can you overfill the rear diff? In my opinion, anything that has fluids of any sort should have a sight gauge lol..

I have little experience with Toyota LSD's, but I can tell you from experience with the Ford LSD's the clutch-packs only last for so long, and when they do finally go they either chatter badly when turning or just plain start acting like a good ole open type 100% of the time.

No synthetic in the rear of a mechanical LSD.

Dino oil with friction modifier only.

As long as the truck is level you can't overfill it. It's basically idiot proof.

Fill with friction modifier then top off with oil.

Unless you beat the crap out of your truck or have a very high number of miles or never maintained it your LSD should be fine.
