Rain drops keep fallen on my head...

I have an 08 TRD Sport 4x4 Taco... Here in Florida we get tons of rain all the time. I was curious if anyone has a problem with driving through puddles of water.

Let me be more specific. The water that builds up during down pours next to the curbs or dips in the road. The water doesn't shoot out to the side. It shoots forward and up; resulting in 0% visability.

I have the stock factory tires, and nothing done to the vehicle. Does anyone else have this problem, and if so what causes it and how can it be corrected??

My rule of thumb when I go through water and can't see through the windshield due to the splash is to slow down. Last week was the first big rain we had since I bought my taco and it happened to me. I was hitting the water faster than I would have with my old truck since the taco is bigger and sits higher.

 

I'm just not understanding why it's going forward and up...

My 350z shot the water up and to the sides, as did all my other previous vehicles. Does the underplate have anything to do with it, or the tires, or like you said the speed??

Would this change with a different set of tires?

 

Does the sport model come with an engine skid plate? I'd blame it on that and the higher ground clearance. I doubt the tires would have a significant effect, but I'm no expert on tires.

 

Yes, it does have a skid plate... I was thinking that might be it as well...

 

put some rainx on that windshield. that will help a ton. i have a 51 ford with no wipers and i use it. i can se no matter how hard the rain is coming down. or splashing up

 

Put the windshield wipers on and everytime you see a puddle - HIT IT!!!

That's all part of the fun!!

The big ones are especially fun!!

 

I had a 1994 toyota pickup and now a 2008 and both do the same thing. I think it is the design of the truck of how close the wheels are to the front and how high the truck sits. Just make sure you know where you are headed before you hit the big puddles.

 

Alrighty... It just seems like a design flaw to me. But, yea, I guess slow down, windshield wipers on, and rain-x....
