Cool, I like comparative tests, although it is easy to be biased. In this case GM sponsored the review. Also, since the Tacoma and Nissan are old (although still 'current' models), the test is not really apples-apples. The guys did acknowledge that, kudus to them for that - a lot of testers don't take that in consideration.

All that being said, a quick ride around the block is not a good test. Only time will tell, and so far Tacoma is leading that test. Let's see what the future holds.

Next year will be an exciting year for us mid-size lovers.

Wow the front end on the Chevy is really low for being an off-road vehicle.

I think the people looking for more tech and a nicer bold interior will jump ship and go with the colorodo or canyon. Tacoma is proven but the interior leaves something to be desired compared to other vehicles on the market. Asian manufacturers better wake up because Im a devout toyota/honda/subaru buyer and my eyes are wandering. Of course I am practical and go for reliability, but god do i wish the interiors could compete with the new American/Canadian/Mexican stuff being built.

Geeez how low is that Colorado? The stock Tacoma is too low, and it towers over the Chevy. Who would want that?

Would be the first thing I would need to rip off and sell as soon as I got the truck home.

I imagine in a decade we wouldn't be allowed to purchase trucks for personal use anymore. You want to haul something? You will need to hire a delivery service.

Same happened to me, I don't need to see it. I voted with my wallet last week, there is nothing about this Colorado that would have changed my mind. Unless possibly the diesel was already on sale, and could be had at the same price point my TRD/OR was.

I drove a tacoma over the weekend and actually enjoyed the simple layout.....I am currently driving a 2011 Mazda 6 with all the tech like Nav and dual climate and stuff and felt it was refreshing to go back to more basic

You aren't missing much. They just drove each truck around the city streets of San Diego for a few minutes. They said the Chevy had a better interior and it is a mini Silverado with a nice smooth quiet ride.

Flat out; first release from nigh any manufacturer of a new model is going to have a number of issues; so Colorado is ruled out until next year less you want to deal with that. So it comes down to Nissan vs Toyota. The Nissan looks nice; is markedly cheaper; but also comes in automatic only; so is ruled out. (Ridgeline doesn't count as a truck)

Choices for midsized truck kind of suck right now; glad GM re-entering the game; hopefully Ford follows soon.

The lower portion of that Colorado's front end looks really familiar...where have I seen that before...?

Tonneau covers have not been proven to improve aero and MPGs. In fact it is just the opposite. Toyota needs to up their game with the Tacoma. Last straw for me may have been taking out the auto dim mirror with Homelink and temp. I wrote customer service an email and told them as much but really doubt they give a shit. Tow rating for the Chevy is only 500 more than Tacoma and the torque is not impressive. My next trcuk will take me in to retirement so a Tundra might be in my future. Although who knows I will have 4 - 5 years to evaluate the Colorado / Canyon.
