About 2 weeks ago, I replaced the rear brake shoes on my truck. I done one side at the time as to make sure I was able put them back together right. Reassembled the truck and adjusted them to where they'd work properly.

Here's the issue. When I back up, at really any speed, and apply my brakes while the truck is rolling back, I get about 1/8 way into the stroke of the brake pedal and I can feel a bit of clunk, and the rear brakes start to drag and continue to even after I let off the pedal(I still have some sort of momentum that is lost since they're still dragging) They don't lock up, they just get this noticeable drag to them. The second I start to go forward again, it goes away. If I go forward and back up and apply the brake, sure enough they drag again after I let off of the brake.

I haven't take the drums off to see if something looks abnormal, but does anyone have any idea what could be out of whack to cause this issue?

I would suggest looking back inside and making sure the springs and hardware are in the proper location. It sounds to me like the brakes are popping out of place. This could also be because they are not properly adjusted. How did you set the final adjustment? When I adjust them for initial use I spin the adjuster a little at a time, slipping the drum on after each adjustment, until I can just feel and hear a tiny amount of drag.

+1 what Bama said. Open it back up and give it a peek.

    The service manual says:

ADJUST REAR DRUM BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE

    (a) Provisionally install the hub nuts.

    (b) Remove the hole plug, and turn the adjuster to expand the shoe until the drum locks.

    (c) Using a screwdriver, release the adjuster 15 notches. * ( my note here: 15 notches is not turns. Each notch on the star wheel )

    (d) Install the hole plug.
