    sup guys,

this is a little weird. but i wanted to see if anyone is having this problem. i installed the AFE stage 2 intake a couple of days ago, and i noticed when you run it up hard (to the higher rpms where the sound boosts in..mmm) my entire dash vibrates likes crazy with the added noise!

it only seems to happen when the windows are closed. i know these tacomas have super great seals, similarly, the doors not closing all the way unless you use a lot of force (compared to my other cars).

so figuring this, when driving with the windows down, there seems to be no rattle in the dash. so clearly its not the intake itself. i made sure everything was tight, but man, the dash rattle is annoying as **** when i step on the gas. cant seem to pinpoint where its coming from. either top of the dash or behind the headunit.

anyone else experiencing this? is there a fix? a fix would be nice..... but im not new to rattles. my subaru sti had about 7 rattles from the factory and now with all the mods the whole thing makes weird noise. lol

if something like this were the case, wouldn't it make noise at all RPMs?

just weird that when the intake noise kicks in, thats where the problem starts.. so im talkin, full throttle, over 4k rpm

Mine rattles after I drive my Taco like a racecar. The filter itself gets loose, from hitting the heatshield, and it just becomes loose and rests on the heatshield. Usually when some I4 wants to race:burnrubber:

Harmonic vibration from the mad amounts of intake air.

To start with, it's not normal, but definitely sounds like a harmonic is vibrating the dash. I would first check that all the tube connections are solid, that the box is definitely tight down to the fender, and that the fender intake tube has the seal installed well, and that the inlet is not hitting the fender wall. Any of these could cause a vibration that turns into a dash harmonic.

Also, since you have the 14 with all the added emissions stuff close to the box/tube, check that there isn't anything touching. Keep in mind that as the engine revs, it moves some, so if something is close, it may well be touching at certain rpm/power levels.

I've seen this and what fixed it was to put rubber washers where the intake mounts to the metal under the hood. Someone had the K&N that did this under WOT and we added the rubber washers and that resolved the issue. Good luck!

This is what happens to mine, but to the cone filter and the plastic coupling. Especialy with the engine torquing at WOT....... I should stop doing that.

Just a thought .... Try changing the tranny mount with a non OEM block. It may change the harmonics needed to cause then issue - or hopefully fix it ....
