3" Lift 1" Lift in Rear 33.5" BFG All T's
Alright so I just got my 2014 Tacoma not too long ago. I immediately got a set of BFG's 305's 33.6" All T's a 3" spacer lift in front with 1" block in rear. I got a deal I couldnt pass up on the tires and wheels so I had to make it work. Unfortunately its just not working, bad rub in front against chassis by about .5"

Just barely hits my frame when backing up.. :/

My mechanic thinks I can add another 1" to the spacer in front so it would be a 4" spacer lift in front.

This was not a cheap truck, it rides okay as it site but not that great. I will be doing occasional annual trips with moderate 4Wheelin.

What are your guys thoughts on all of this.. I cant decide on what to do. I know rancho offers a 6" suspension lift which I'm considering forking over the dough for. It sits so nice right now and looks incredible. So bummed about the rub...

Do not add the spacer. Are you rubbing the cab mount?

I cut out some of the fender liner, Folded the pinch weld on the body, had my cab mount chopped and trimmed the fenders. I still rub sometimes on a 285/70/17.

Nick is right, don't add onto the spacer with another spacer. First, find out where you are rubbing and try to take photos so others can help diagnose the problem. Second, is your truck 4x4 or no? If it is not then look into spindle lifts as I know many people run them around here. Most importantly though, solve the problem of rubbing first before you try to lift your truck even higher or spend unnecessary amounts of money if you are happy with how your truck sits and rides now.

With a 3" lift and 305s I can't imagine that you wouldn't rub some of the time, but I suppose anything is possible.

That said, you'll likely have to do the CMC mod and fender liner trimming to not rub, maybe new UCAs as well. (if for no other reason than obtaining better alignment)

    Good luck.

I think your answer is here.... why would you get a cheap spacer lift when your truck isn't cheap? With 33's(285's) there's a lot of work to make them fit and perform on and off road. Chopping, cutting, sawing, welding and such...... for 34" tires, what's it worth to you? I personally am not a fan of giant 6" lifts with drop brackets and what not but to each their own. Also, if it doesn't ride "all that great on the road" it'll be far worse off road.

Depending on the wheels and tires, you can run 285s without having to do any trimming. I ran 285s on a 3" lift with no rubbing using FJ wheels and there a many others on here who have been able to run 285s without having to trim and chop.

True, there's a lot of variables but in my case M/T 285 yanked off my fender flare at full stuff and until I chopped the cab mount, it was rub free. Then, there was making room for the full size spare to fit in the stock location and what not.......@ 34.6"..... dare I say, re-gear?

Oh man...that's a bummer. Hopefully it wasn't too much of a hassle to fix.

I think your first point is spot-on...why go to all the extra work on an already expensive (and brand new) truck to gain an extra inch in tire size?

He bought the truck as is with the lift. Then bought the tires. Dealer sells those truck about 3 grand over what they paid another shop yo do. So as he bought it from dealer. Then the spacer lifts ain't cheap.

I ran the same spacer lift and 305 for my first lift and tires. Once you cut the inner fender where it rubs. And take care of the cab mount. It won't run anymore. Box blade or sheet rock knife does great work.

    Find a new mechanic...

    * the size of the "spacer" is non-proportional to the amount of lift height...

3 inch is kind of the maximum. Any higher and you'll definitely have alignment issues and your gonna eat up cv boots.
