That looks miserable. Is removing the driveshaft necessary?

Just completed it, removing driveshaft was helpful. Took about 2 hours.

    engine swap (stuck valve @260K)
Just did my 2008 1GRFE 4WD with 280K on the motor
Can remove from above after unbolting. Not necessary to remove front driveshaft or steering linkage BTW.
I unbolted the brackets for the fuel and brake lines to push away and the black vertical bracket that connects intake to block
gotta have a good 1/2" long extension with universal socket or joint to get to that top bolt on starter. I would go for that first as this is the biggest bitch
also nice to have a small short screwdriver to release the electrical clip
had to dremel off the positive cable as the nut was corroded on was the only other bitch
also helps to get the ground cable to tranny off
2 hours at best for this job if you can get under the truck well
