Automatic transmission lag

I have 2009 Prerunner V6 and noticed a lag in the transmission when I slow down and then accelerate. Its like the tranmission is kind of between gears or something. Anyone else notice this problem?

 

I'm going to guess the locking torque convertor?

 

Almost the same truck, but I'm not noticing a problem.

First check the trans fluid. If it's low, it could cause the valves to malfunction, possibly causing a delay.

I do drive fairly aggressively, and can't say I've seen this.

 

I notice it after making a turn, its almost as if it is in the wrong gear and needs to shift before it will go. also i don't think we can check the tranny fluid because there are no dipsticks because the transmissions are "maintenance free"

 

I thought I was going crazy, but I too have noticed the same.

 

Mine too, 09 with 800 miles, going to the dealer service dept tomorrow.

 

now that you guys have mentioned it ive noticed it to?? i just bought mine 09 with a 1000 on it??

 

Mine too....After taking a turn slowly,the truck revs high without responding for a milisecond and then shifts down.I think some of the guys with manual transmissions have beefed about the revs not coming down quickly enough as well.

I also thought I was going crazy but have talked, driven other 09 same deal. That and the brakes sucks..... I spent the extra cash and bought my first jap vech and, well lets just say I could be happier.

 

When I need my Taco to start hauling ass quickly, I'll downshift into 3rd or 4th...

 

Yes, this is exactly what I was referring to. So if anyone gets to a dealer let us know what the hell is going on.

 

mine does it too.. i dont freak out about it. its like its in 2nd gear and needs more gas to get it going. im so used to it now it doesnt bother me.

 

Transmission is probably toat. Mine did it for a long time, basically since I bought it. Just got it back from the shop the other day. Got the transmission replaced (with a lot of other parts as well) Transmission was basically going out slowly and getting worse and worse but was still driveable. Took it into Toyota and they replaced it no problem. Went better then my whole frame ordeal!

 

There's a reason for it. It is programming. This has been discussed a few times on the forums here. I'd search for it but I'm going to bed.

 

Really nothing that concerns me.....I just attributed it to a characteristic of the truck.

 

I've got the issue as well. I was thinking of taking the truck in to the dealership to have them check it out. I've got about 2,300 miles so far.

 

About 1,800 miles on my 09' and it has done this from day one. I've followed a few threads on here discussing the problem but I've never heard an explananation that made sense to me. Some have been told the transmission is "programming itself" to your driving habits - but I'm whipping out the B.S. card on that one. I don't like not being able to check the fluid myself - I'll be going in for an oil change soon and I'll have them check it out. If anyone gets feedback from their dealer on this I'd like to hear it.
