Can anyone share any longterm real world mpg and reviews of the double cab prerunner with either the 4 cylinder or v6. I have a 2012 access cab 2.7 non prerunner automatic and want to upgrade to a DC. This 4 banger Is pretty weak in this truck, but the DC may have a different rear end. I would like to upgrade to the v6 but want to get decent mpg as I do a lot of short trips. My current truck get Avg of 24.

    thanks in advance

I can only speak for about a month and a half, but I am averaging 19 mpg out of my 2012 DCSB V6 Pre-runner. See fuelly link in my signature.

.... if you rock a 6lug in anything other than the regular cab, get the v6. mpg's arnt much better out of the i4 in a DC prerunner and its going to be a dog.

yeah that was my concern becuase the auto in the regular access cab it kind of a dog. my work truck is a standard cab manual 2.7 and it's great power and mpg wise. I wish they made the DC 4 banger in a manual trans

    yeah exactly.

I have managed to eek two tanks (about 500mi of driving) at 23.7mpg in my DCSB v6 auto 4x4. typically though ill get about 21-22 on the hwy, and get right around 18 in my round town / 9 mi back road stop n go commute to work.

Long term? 2006, 4.0 auto with 170,000 plus miles and I average about 18mpg. 300 miles to the tank before the warning light, 17-18 gallons consumed. 2.5" lift with 265's, she's a thirst girl!

Had a 2014 DC PreRunner I was using for work, I live in a very hilly area, and keep 200-300 lbs in the box and about another 100-150 in tools in a tool box.

That truck using it like I was, was an absolute dog, literally had to work the motor to maintain speed with normal cars on the road. There were a few 6-7% grades I work in where that truck would barely do 20 mph up with my foot on the floorboard.

Without the weight the truck was just adaquate. With the load it was getting about 15 mpg mixed. Without a load I could get as high as 24 on a board flat highway, at sustained speeds below say 70 mph.

Got a '14 TRD, OR DCSB now, and averaging 15 using it the same way. Here's the deal, I'm getting the same mpg with the V6 in town and mixed driving, but the truck has so much more power now and doesn't struggle on hills.

If you decide on the 2.7 PreRunner DCSB, take it on an extended test drive up and down hills if possible, and decide if you can live with the way that would feel.

2011 DC 4.0 PreRunner...I've put 17,608 miles on it and average 21.7 mpg. I don't drive it like a race car but I don't exactly baby it either.

Mine is mostly city driving at 14.8-15.2mpg and the highest freeway average I've seen is 19mpg. The manual isn't a tall 6th gear, btw.

    More than I can afford
    Per my ultragauge.

16.3 MPG for the X over the last 6,000 miles or so.

Mostly freeway, so that means stop and go here in California.
That and I drive the thing like I stole it, I am sure that doesn't help.

I am getting 16.3 according to fuelly but I just started using it, when I was tracking it with another app before i was getting about 16.5. I have a 2010 PreRunner DCSB. I drive mostly city with freeways occasionally. I have a heavy foot. If there is no traffic I am always about 75 mph
