What brand and sizes are you guys running for winter tires? I want a 33"-35" tire size. I've heard mix reviews about the BFGs but I've seen them on every plow truck around here.

So what are you guys running?

Studded Hercules Avalanche X-Treme's. Best winter tire I've ever owned. I have 265/70r17's.. but they come in other sizes too?

If you moved to "norfthern Ont."...(above Huntsville, you can use them)..!!

Really don't need studs in tires... they just destroy roads.... I'm north of the Huntsville line and never needed or wanted studs... drive accordingly to the conditions and all's well...

I have a 4X4... and use Michelin X-Ice and love them....

I already have summer rims + tires. So these will be going on the stock rims and used just for winter.

    Don't stud them then?

For real though... I live in the middle of nowhere, northern Canada, and road maintenance off the main highway is pretty much non existent. I can't think of a better proving grounds for a winter tire and I swear by the Hercules'. We don't see asphalt for 6 months at a time... hard packed snow counts as "excellent driving conditions"

Never owned Duratracs, but a friend of mine up here had them on his Tacoma. We did a lot of road trips together and he was always amazed at how planted my truck was. I drove his truck out of curiosity once and was not impressed.

I had a set of X-Ice's I was happy with. They're good, but they don't get the raving review I give to the Avalanche X-Treme's.

Depends on if you want, a good snow tire or ice tire? You need big groves to clear snow but small suction cups to adhere to ice, cant have it both ways.

I love my 265/75/16 Duratracs for snow and just keep em all year round. You can check out a few vids on Youtube of Duratracs in deep powder, looks fun!

Duratrac's are great year round. Can even stud the LT sizes. If you need a dedicated winter tire I would recommend the Hankook iPike's. They were awesome on my Subaru. They ended up being stolen when in storage and I replaced them with Michelin X-Ice Xi3 and I hated them. They were worse on ice than my Hankook's which is funny because they have 'Ice" in the name. No winter tire is going to be perfect on ice other than a studded winter tire.
