Just wanted to share my experience of how tough these trucks are.....

I was proceeding through an traffic light controlled intersection(, next thing I know there is large crunch as the pickup truck slams into the passenger door flipping the truck onto the driver's side. Then comes the impact from the dumptruck(entering the intersection in the opposite direct from me) that was hitting the front end of my truck, knocking the truck back into the middle of the intersection. I was able to exit through the windshield after some bystanders helped me kick it out. Didn't realize how lucky I was until I went and took the pics of the truck on Monday. Granted I am sore, bruised and some lacerations to my hand, but I can only imagine what would have happened without the safety features incorporated into these trucks..... was so lucky that I probably should have bought some lottery tickets Saturday, but was so f@%$ing pissed that my baby was destroyed....... sorry had to rant little bit..... I assume other driver will be cited as NYSP was there and witnesses had come forward indicating that the other vehicle ran the red light before I was taken for ride in the ambulance.....won't get the accident report for 7-10 days per the trooper. Will be interesting to see how insurance handles this as both of us are through Progressive - especially since the owner only has 25k of property damage on his vehicle, which doesn't even cover the NADA value of my truck.

I'm sure progressive will take care of you, and I'm equally sure they will try to hose you. You will have to fight to get the full value of your truck. Start finding comparable tacoma's for sale in your area and print the ads out to take with you to the insurance.

I made it though something similar years ago. Congrats on being alive, and be thankful your baby did her job - saving your hide. Make sure to get some "pain and suffering" money to cover upgrades to your new truck.

OP good luck with the insurance Co.

Stick to your guns and don't roll over for them *snicker*

I'm always amazed at the idiots who drive with so little coverage. 25k is nothing. I carry over 300k. Last thing I need is to go bankrupt because I tap a Bentley in a parking lot.

Insurance fraud is illegal, if that's what your eluding to.

thanks for the words of advice.... Probably will be screwed on the lift, UCAs and tires but will definitely be pushing hard for the value of the truck.... Regarding pain and suffering, I certainly would not volunteer to go through the past three days again. I could post pics of the bruises from the seatbelt, but they would get classified as NSFW.... I have never seen so many shades of red/blue/purple on my body before

Have not decided what to replace it with yet - definitely will be another TRD-OR but final settlement will determine how much newer to some extent..... Difference between balance owed and book value will give me enough for good down payment, but initial search doesn't look like 1.9%financing is being offered right now.

Just starting to look & fortunately have another vehicle so I don't have to be in a hurry...

WOW, that's unheard of here in PA, I had 1.2% and thought that I hit the lotto. And it wasn't through Toyota finance but my dealer found it for me.

Go to a sympathetic doctor and get all the injuries documented if you haven't already.

I'd like to see pictures of the dump truck. Wonder how much damage it sustained. :D
