I was planning on doing a lightbar and OEM roof rack combo install but someone said dont do it because the LED lightbar will whistle and the cooling fins will resonate and drive me nuts. Any feedback from TW members that have done it will be great.

can't be any different than all these guys mounting bars to the roof, lots of guys do it. I say go for it. Take pics cause I was thinking of doing this like 8 months ago.

I've been wanting to do the same. I was thinking of getting the mounts that a member on here makes that gives it a really clean look with a 42in bar. But I just need to find a 42in bar for a decent price.

My bother knows a reputable dealer in Phoenix and I was planning on getting a light bar from him and designing some billet aluminum 6061-t6 brackets to mount to the roof rack till somebody said dont do it. Thought I'd ask here before drilling a hole in my roof

why would you drill in the roof? thought it was mounting to the roof rack.

To pass the power wires. Dosent seem like the rubber strip on the side of the windshield is able to conceal the wires plus hold them in place. I could be wrong....... Looking for feedback on the whole deal before I jump in

Rather than just drilling holes into the roof, where else are these mounted if there is another place? I have heard there is a bracket you can use for inside the door jam? Where does everyone mount theirs?

My concern was more about the whistling and vibration noise. Having it over the cab and closer to your seating position will be annoying if its loud. I posted on some other threads as well but havent received feedback one way or another.
