Took my truck in for recall yesterday. Seat belt and frame inspection. Repair was done on seat belt. Frame was inspected. Service dept called and said there was a hole in the frame. They were sending a picture to Toyota for review and if they approved it, then a frame would be ordered and replaced. Less than one hour later service dept called back and said Toyota approved and that a new frame had been ordered. When I went to pick up my truck the service writer told me that they had over 60 frames ordered just at this dealership. Said to be patient as it would take at least two months to get frame to dealership. Once scheduled it should take 3 days and I would be given a loaner.

sounds about right. that's good that they let you take your truck home. i hope for your sake it only takes 2 months for the frame to get in, but i doubt that will be the case. my frame has been on order for 3 months and i took my truck in fairly early back in october.

So my last update was a lie... they said it was, but the frame was not in fact in! That was two months ago, holy hell.

Well - the frame is ACTUALLY in now - I'm taking my truck in tomorrow and it should be done in "a couple of days".

Yup! Took 5 months for the frame to get in. BUT I stopped by today and it is all on there! They didn't break anything and it all went super smoothly. Truck looks better than the day I bought it (used 5 years ago). All new fluids, new leaf springs, etc...

They have to do an alignment and test drive it for a bit but I'll get it back tomorrow. So far so good from what I could see when it was on the lift, but you never know.

Got my truck back last night. It took them 1 DAY to switch it all over.

i had them throw on top plate spacers (i have OME 884x springs on billy shocks that weren't cutting it with the weight of my bumper). got the new 4 leaf springs in addition to my 1" block and rear 5100s i had before. truck rides like brand new. drives better than when i purchased it with 60k miles on it. smooth as hell, no rattles at all, no more driveline vibes, nothing. VERY pleased. I'll update the thread in a few thousand miles to report any new problems.

Was at nearby Toyota store and saw these in the back and thought of you guys in this thread. Looks like no waiting at Newbold Toyota in O'Fallon, Illinois. Of course that might just be a newly arrived pile for people that are already booked for their own replacements.

Stacks of new frames on pallets.

First part number tag I saw, didn't bother with others are frames all looked like tacoma frames to me from my limited amount of time under my truck.

Some of the old frames going out, with various levels of visible damage.

    More of the same.

Not posting these to make those doing the long wait sad-faced just saw them all stacked back there and thought of the folks in this thread. Sucks that people are going through this and I hope you get satisfaction soon.

After looking at the pic of the new frames I have a few questions.
The new frames are made in Mexico? By toyota?
We're the old frames made in Mexico? By Toyota?
Is the design or coating different/better for the new frames?

I'm embarrassed to say that even though I'm the one who took the picture I never once noticed the "Hecho in Mexico" bit. I reckon I was just focused on the part number and name.

I know that many of our earlier year model 2nd generation Tacoma's were made at the Mexico plant so I'd have to assume that it, or another is still up and running and producing these. I'm not current but I think a couple of cars are still being made in Mexico for Toyota even now.

I was under the impression that the new frames were built somewhere in the western USA (Nevada, or something like that). I could be wrong.

I dropped mine off with Bennett Toyota in Allentown on Monday, I took it in over the weekend for state inspection and it failed. Tey told me I could not drive it and they set me up with a RAV4, and told me they would see me in a few months. Truck has 112,000 miles, surprised they would fix it vs. offering to buy it back,

Thanks for the pics as it gives some of us some hope that we will get our trucks back sooner rather than later. I'm 5 weeks in. Miss it terribly.

Did they flush your transmission? Just curious. Some have indicated this was part of the process but I have yet to see anything about transmission fluid replacement in any literature from Toyota.

I got my my '03 back with the new frame 2 weeks ago. I still can't believe how much better it is. The truck has 160,000 miles on it and it drives like new!

I brought my truck in on October 23rd and just dropped it off today for replacement. They told me a harness is what is taking so long. My rental is a Sienna. I feel like a soccer mom driving it!

I had my inspection in December and decided to wait until spring to avoid salt on the new frame. Got mine back after only two days. 133,000 miles

My dad's(DCLB) is still waiting. Was told in August '14 that it had failed. He recently called and the dealer told them sometime this month. Mine(DCSB) was in October of '14, still waiting.

One is going to a dealership in NJ and the other in PA, FYI.
