Hey everyone, the time has come to replace the front wheel bearings on my 07. My question is, which brand and vendor should I use? I see tons of different bearings ranging fron $60ish up to $280 which one should I buy?

I've only had OEMs installed. Unlike a GM of a Ford, our hubs come in 2 pieces, I have however recently heard of someone selling them assembled.

My theory on these is like tires and ball joints, you get what you pay for. I'd be afraid to cheap out on Chinese parts. I say Timken if they make them for a Tacoma, that's what I always used on my other vehicles.

I am currently staying away from all MOOG products, I have had nothing but trouble with everything MOOG I have owned in the last 5 years.... especially ball joints. They used to be a quality part, not any more.

What about corrosion problems in front bearings? My 08 came from Colorado , winter salt?
Just opened left front due to rumble and see that the grease has rust coloring in it.

    Thanks all,

I used SKF bearings in the last 2 trucks I changed them on. One that I bought new needed both sides at I recall 75k miles and the next one I changed both sides on at 112k. But the truck with 112k was severely neglected and they had likely been bad since 80k or so. They were so smoked I got like 15mpg all the way home on the highway and I couldn't turn the wheels by hand with the truck jacked up. My current truck's service records show them being changed around 80k miles. Both my first two trucks were stock with stock wheels. My current truck has had aftermarket 16x8 wheels on it pretty much since new. On both trucks I swapped the bearings on myself the inner seals the CV shafts ride on were totally shot. I think that allows crud to eventually work it's way into the bearing.

I would go with Koyo over the Moog for sure. And you can get mine as well. Check out my reviews if you want. I only build with Koyo bearings, and Timken seals. Nothing else. My link is in my Signature.

After ordering a SKF FW194, I contacted SKF to see what kind of grease they used in this bearing. I became a little concerned when they responded that this bearing was from an OEM and they did not know what kind of grease was used. I received the bearing today and it appears to be the same bearing sold by Toyota. Both the Toyota and the FW194 are NSK 54KWH01 bearings.

I looked around on the forum & decided to go with Timken front bearings. The Koyo were about 30% more than Timken on Auto Parts Warehouse & too pricey.

When the bearings came I opened the package to check them out. The boxes said Timken BM500007. Looked at the bearing assembly & the bearings are Koyo! Same bearings for 30% discount! Yeah baby!

By the way, I just turned 180k & this is my first replacement.
