So it seems that for every 1 access cab i see 20 quad cabs. Is it just me or do others notice this?

The AC is perfect for my dog. I keep one seat up so he can lay on his pillow on the floor and the other seat down so he can look out the window. I need the six-foot bed and the double cab long bed is too long for my garage. Yeah that's what she said I know I know...

Sales proportions used to be 55/35/10 for double cab / access cab / regular cab. With the regular cab killed for 2015, the ratio might become more lopsided to 65/35.

Tacoma and Tundra production capacity is limited to 250,000 trucks per year combined. Toyota is in an interesting situation where it can sell every truck it makes. Until the Mexico line is expanded, expect to see Toyota allocating more production to higher-margin models (Tundras, double cab Tacos).

I would think that the people who would have been interested in the regular cab would be more interested in the AC over the DC.

either way, there are a lot more double cabs on the road, but I wouldn't say that an Access Cab is rare. Especially when you consider how many Tacoma's there are on the road. I think there were roughly 160K sold in 2013.. so ~56k access cabs in one year. (could be wrong on that 160k figure though)

Access cabs are not rare. 35% of sales means more than 40,000 access cabs sold every year in the US, for the last 9 years. ;)

Toyota appears to be capacity-constrained right now, with Tacos flying off dealers' lots on average after just 9 days. If Toyota decides the production mix will be 65/35, then the sales mix will be 65/35. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2014/10/septembers-fastest-and-slowest-selling-pickups.html#more

I don't think 2nd gen access cab models were ever offered with the rear-seat delete option?

Retrofitting a second row could be complicated if the rear row seat belts are not preinstalled.

With well over a million 05+ tacos on the road...and every Xrunner being an Access Cab... agreed, not rare.

A lots buy an truck for their workline and things that work better on an truck bed vs an back of an regular car/van. There's also family involved and that extra space is great.

An AIO truck is what I mean lol

Do you have any pics? I've never seen a new one. I bought an Access Cab because they fly better.

I just really like the look of the access cabs and have no real need for a double cab. My 1st gen was an access and my new one is also.

Retrofitting seats will be a lot of work. You'll have to get seat belt assemblies with the retractors ($$) and likely new interior plastic panels.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Açcess cab is best, unless you are the one who has to ride in the back seat. Then you'd probably not agree.
