US v. MEX Tacomas

Question.

Shopping for a new Tacoma. Have heard that they are all now assembled in Texas, but a VIN I checked tells me it's made in Mexico.

Is that accurate? Does anyone have a distinct preference for one over the other?

Thanks.

Open the drive door and look at the tag in the door jamb.

How many times is this going be a new thread? And is this something people actually worry about? I mean, are there really people not buying specific trucks because they weren't built in the US?

Are Taco's better in Mexico? Or if it just the sauce?

well, I can tell you this. We are having A LOT of Tacos from Mexico coming back with a distinct wind noise coming from the drivers side window. US made, zero. Other than that, no difference. I am by no way saying the Mexico builts are less of a truck.

Buy whatever you want. I still can't believe they build our Tacoma's in two places. That's not very common anymore in the auto industry. I'm pretty sure the Tacoma has the most US parts of any truck at this point.

I've always believed that building a truck is like building a computer. Any idiot can assemble a computer correctly with a little bit of training, but only an extremely skilled worker can cut the chips that go in the thing. Same with trucks. With a little knowledge and a lot of time I could build my Tacoma from parts in a garage. I wouldn't be as confident building my own motor or ECU.

BTW IMHO I think the build quality on my Tacoma was good, but not great, from the Mexican plant. A few rattles and a loose molding but everything else has been great.

I'd rather it was manufactured and assembled all in Japan, to be honest.

They make better cars than we do... which is why I buy them. Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Infiniti, Lexus... owned 'em all.

I'd rather not. I'd like to support the NA economy if possible. I like how Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, and Honda have moved significant manufacturing over here. Now if only we could get that to work in other industries .

Mazda is losing share in Canada because there cars don't really fit someone over 5'8" because they only produce Japanese focused models now.

Maybe it was made on a Tuesday.

Mine is from Texas. I believe the Mexico plant has the most awards. God damn my luck.
