I have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma and the factory speakers that are in my truck are not loud enough for my taste. I want to get new speakers that are much louder but also keeping a clean crisp sound. Does anyone have any suggestions on a brand of speakers to get that will work with the factory stereo? Thank you.

There area a ton of options out there just depends on how much you want to spend. I've always thought the systems on our trucks were never that good even with the JBL upgrade.

Yeah, mine is nowhere near loud enough, but I'd really like to keep the factory head unit for now.

Type R's are a solid go to. thats what I'm running now. priced well.. nice and loud.

Infinity and Focal are some higher end ones.. these tend to be more sound quality/clear than others..

and 100w/channel is a good start. most aftermarket speakers require around that anyways.

I replaced the headunit. Still using factory speakers. Much louder. No distortion unless you go really crazy.

I also have a little 8" powered sub that helps, but even if I turn that off it's still a dramatic improvement over the factory non-JBL headunit.

Plus, my 2011 was a one line display with just an aux input. C'mon Toyota, nearly every other 2011 vehicle is leaps and bounds ahead of that.

Hybrid audio technologies Mirus series. I got em from Mr. Marv, he is a vendor on here. I did chane out head unit to a Pioneer. I am well pleased with the upgrade. I did head unit first and had marginal improvement through stock speakers. Upgraded speakers and it was night and day difference. Factory speakers are horrible. Keep in mind I am non JBL.

The only way new speakers will make your system louder is if they are more efficient. Look for speakers with at least 89db sensitivity. Even then, it won't make too much of a difference. You'll need an amp to make a big difference.

I agree Moose. I am a fan of Alpine. Not because their amazing or the best, but because they are a good bang for your buck. There are defiantly other higher end brands you can get.

I would suggest to go with Alpine Type S if you are looking to save money, but still have a great every day listening stero and clear sound. I have had Type S for over 8 years (in my previous car, and in my taco). If you dont care about the budget then Type R's great! Keep in mind, the Type S of Today were the Type R of 5-10 years ago. The Type S are much cheaper and they are easier to match an amp too (typically the wiring can also be cheaper too due to lower power requirements of Type S).

Check out my pictures for what I did for my speakers. Be sure to get the fronts as component speakers (i.e. with a spereate front tweeter) to get that extra clarity in the high frequency end. It is also always a good idea to match the amp to the speakers via brand (most companies make amplifiers directly compatible with their speakers). If you start mixing and matching amps you might get an over powered or underpowered system which is not ideal.

If you want good lows, you will need a sub and after market head unit. I recently installed a 10" MTX if you want to check out this thread too.
