Auto Trader aint worth a crap IMO. It is expensive and in my area no one seems to look at it. Cars.com is very similar in format and there is a free option, but the downside is you can only list 5 pictures. Theres also carsforsale.com. That said, Craigslist has always drawn the most interest for the cars I've sold.

    Good luck on your sale!

Trader certainly isn't what it used to be but it's where I found my last car. I too have had the most luck with CL

Graig's if you don't mind tire-kickers, silly low ball offers, questionable people and meeting up at questionable locations. Back when I sold my 2010 PreRunner, V6, DC, I had it on Criags, only to have the jerkoff who called me on it, cancel twice, then show up and offer $15K for a truck with 57K miles on it. Went to CarMax the next day, and they gave me $20K.

I've sold cars private party and I've sold cars to CarMax and random new car dealers. I would go to a few domestic dealers (They love to get Tacoma's in) and see what they would offer "To buy your truck outright" then go to CarMax and get an offer.

Sometimes I like to get a CarMax offer as a baseline first, that way I can show other dealers or Craigslist low ballers, I've already got a worst case offer in the hole.

Best advice I read here. Also might try the local paper or penny sheet in your area but you pay for that. If you belong to a credit union or labor organization try posting on their bulletin board. Keep your Craigslist ad updated so it sits at the top of the queue.

Getting something new? You'd be surprised what you get for trade. They gave me $500 over private party blue book value when trading in for my new sierra. I was very pleased.

Yeah I got a leaf a few weeks ago.
It's not that bad, pretty zippy for a small car,
and I can take the carpool lanes

If i didnt need to haul my dirtbike around every weekend, I'd look into something like that. congrats. I loved my tacoma, but it is far outdated and overpriced for what you get today, in 2005 no big deal, but different story now. My V8 4wd gets better gas mileage and cost the same. But now Im rambling and soon the hate squad will come out. Good luck with your sale OP.

Well I went to CarMax, they won't pay any more or less for the lift and mods. :(
They will just wholesale it at auction.
Not really a bad offer, pretty close to bluebook.

So, I have a few potential buyers looking this week.

If not, the part out will begin.

I forgot to mention, to get a good offer from CarMax, they like vehicles 100% stock. Something to do with liability or their guarantee.

I just sold my 4Runner on Craigslist, had a buyer in less than one day. It took less than one week in May, for my BMW to sell. I'm a huge fan of CL.

Autotrader. Besides what other people have said above I have great success and have sold my last 2 trucks for more than what they were worth.

When I traded in my 2011 Subaru Outback for my 2014 Tacoma, Carmax ended up giving me about 3K more than the Toyota dealership.

They have an 18 day free add (with 5 photos). We currently have our corvette up for sale using the 'free' ad. It's been up for 5 days and has gotten 114 views. We had a guy come look at the vette last weekend and another guy coming this weekend.
