I am trying to decide what tire to get for my 2008 4x4 sport. Seems like these cooper tires are well liked. I am wanting something that looks nice on a truck, but doesn't make a lot of road noise. So I guess my question is , are the cooper AT3 the best choice. I do not do any off roading, and we get some snow . I should also mention just looking at p rated tires, and staying with the 265/65/17. no need for heavier tires. Or does anyone have another tire I should look at. again not looking for one that is really rough treaded . just something quiet and doesn't look like a car tire on a truck. Thanks.

I'm in a similar boat as you, although I do some minor off-roading. I think I've narrowed my search down to either the Cooper AT3's or the Hancook DynaPro ATM's. Basically, the same price point.

I have the AT3s on my 4Runner and had the Hankooks on a Jeep.

The coopers do make a little bit of noise and do not impress me in the snow or on we, slippery roads. Aside from that, they are decent tires, especially for the money. The Hankooks made about the same noise on the road, but did seem to have more bite in the white stuff.

I have the AT3s in 255/75R17 and like them thus far. They are not a heavy tire which helps with mpg.

I have the Cooper ATP (Discount Tire version of the AT3). 15k miles and I am getting a pretty good amount of road noise at this point. As another poster mentioned I am not impressed with the snow performance (they don't clear well). I always liked my Firestone Destination AT I had on my 07 (had 2 sets). I think the Hankooks look good but no experience here. If I was buying over I probably would have went with Toyo Open Country AT2. I will decide between those and the Kelly Safari TSR for my next tires (Kelly's are only in LT though).

I have the Cooper LTZ Zeon tires. They're light, look great, cheap, low noise, but a bit more "street" than I want. But they do last a long time.

But I'll be upgrading sometime next year

I have had the cooper at3 tires and can say they are not noisy at all. Since you don't plan on offroading much yes I would recommend these. I also ran the toyo atII which also is a good tire. Both tires comes with a treadwear warranty.

Guy I work with has them on his super duty 6.7 diesel. He adores them. We do excavation, and never have issues getting around on site either. Long wearing, good looking, rugged, great in the snow as well. Not much to not like as far as a mostly road tire with the occasional trip into the dirt. Except the price...

I just picked up a set a few weeks ago in size P265/70/17. So far they have been pretty good. They seem to provide good traction in the wet/dry & they look pretty aggressive in person.

My only gripe would be that they are louder than the stock Bridgestone Duelers & they don't ride quite as well either, but i guess there are trade offs with tires.

For the price I paid i am still very happy with my purchase.

I have the AT3s. Low road noise and lots of grip in the snow. My experience in the snow is driving ~100 miles in 4H during a snow storm through PA, MD, and northern VA. Highways were unplowed with several inches of snow. No issues with slipping and held tight in lower gears down the steeper hilly parts of the road.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
My plan is to go to AT3's on my SPORT after I hit about 16K and my OEMS are toast. Aan BTW... white letters out! LOL

Both of them were good on wet roads. I personally like the look of the at II's a lil better.

Get the AT3's, the ones I had was awesome in the wet, they move water like crazy, worked well in the winter as well, if ya want a good tire that's going to work in winter get the new Cooper AT/W, the AT3 is our best selling truck tire and was just ranked number one from consumer reports.. It's a great tire that's for sure....
