I've done as Oz-T says, questionable things like that in what I thought was my reason-able youth. I hope, op, that you fare better than I did. 6-8 months in, I was miserable!

Guy who lives near me has a flat black Prius with red racing stripes...I kid you not!

I've never been one to care about gas mileage, even with the nearly 30k miles/year I drive. The ~18 I average with my Tacoma is plenty for me. That said, I do acknowledge I could save a heck of a lot of money by not driving a nearly 19 ft long truck everywhere. But, the truck has spoiled me and life's too short to drive something I don't like (which is anything that sits low and is 2WD).

Nice 73 Jimmy, I'd love to have a recreational mud truck. Don't worry OP, the Tahoe owners from my last forum hated that I sold an American V8 for a Japanese midsized... I guess its all the same

I already thought their real place -- PriusChat -- was good enough, they already chose the only variation of talk that has no possible non-friendly connotation. One of the synonyms is even "heart-to-heart" when you search for it!

I can picture those forum users sitting in a coffee shop in front of their MacBooks sipping herbal organic tea with their legs crossed while daintily typing out a very tasteful reply to a thread.

Fair enough, but there is a stereotype and around here it holds true the vast majority of the time. Not good or bad.

I fit into just about every New England stereotype there is, and outsiders would certainly see some of them as negative.

    Agreed.

Today you can even get a Subaru Impreza that gets 36 MPG highway. No awful batteries and AWD!

It's our family car and my wife's daily with our kids. That 1997 lacks modern safety features and a warranty that is a nice piece of mind while on deployment. I could see your point though in other circumstance.

Good call OP. I was driving 45K miles/year just to commute to/from work. I bought a Honda Fit, went from ~20MPG to ~40MPG, and saved enough on gas to pay the Fit off in 1 year. Now I buy manly things with the savings.
