I know there is so many topics on these. But do they actually do anything for the truck? Looking for one that is very throaty, I know we have V6's but the throatier the better.

Gotta add force induction then it will actually do some serious stuff for the truck. By itself it's marginally.

Without doing other stuff to it....

it's mostly just going to be a sound thing. You won't see a big difference performance wise by just adding a catback exhaust without adding some other things as well.

I'm a little bias, but I like the sound of the TRD catback myself. not to over the top but loud enough when I want it to be.

Want it throaty, put a cherry bomb, thrush or glasspack on there, and run dual slash cut tubes straight out the back.

Changing any part of the exhaust alone won't do much of anything as far as performance goes. Will definitely change the sound.

If you want power, add stickers. Turbo and NOS stickers add a few extra ponies at the wheels. That's a proven fact.

Not sure what your state laws are regarding vehicle alterations. I would suspect they are similar to other states. I highly doubt an intake would be an illegal modification. What you would have to worry about it your O2 sensor being thrown by an intake causing the truck to run rich or lean. Which may in turn cause you not to pass emissions, if you have those to worry about. If that's an issue you could buy a wideband sensor and have the ECU calibrated for the extra air coming in. Not something most would do if they are only planning on modifying exhaust and intake.

Should be good for another 50hp at least. 1/4mi times might hit low 12's.
    Flowmasters are good for 10hp.

I too got sucked into getting an exhaust. Went with Borla CAT back. Also have a AFE CAI that will be installed soon. I like the idea of a STAINLESS STEEL exhaust...because with these known rust pit trucks...the more I can change out now...and not have to worry about later, the better. The cool sound is just a bonus. No performance is really gained. Truth be told!

The Borla is really nice and sounds great. Should sound even better when the CAI is installed.

your gains (LOL)will be loss in torque on low end and a little more hp on top,but you dont need hp you need torque.

Hp is torque x rpm...so for any given rpm, the more torque, the more hp!
