I have a 2015 Tacoma Pre Runner Double Cab. I noticed that when driving with windows closed, I can hear road noise from rear pasenger side when driving around 30MPH or higher. I don't hear any wind or whistling from the window. Is this normal?

There's a vent in the cab behind the rear seat panel, the plastic storage piece.

You can try carefully cleaning the paint where the door seals meet the cab. Sometimes there's funky residue on the paint that supposedly will make a seal roll a little when the door closes, and that allows air to get between the seal and the door. It won't whistle, it's just kinda loud and annoying.

My driver's side rear had lots of noise from the upper rear corner until I did that, but my doors open to the rear. Yours would likely be on the front of the rear door.

Beyond that... some noise from the rear is normal. Not a whole lot of insulation in the rear of the cab.

Be sure that you're not hearing the common hood gasket noise, I had that in my truck and it starts at about that speed. I fished some 1/4 plastic tubing through my hood and headlight gaskets to make it stop.

I have a 2014 access cab with what seems to be a lot of general road noise. I was about to post a question on it myself. If there is not much insulation in them then that would be the answer. You would think that a thirty-plus thousand dollar truck would have a tad more insulation in it.

road noise is pretty typical and gets much worse when you add a cap. The OEM bed mat helps cut down on the noise with a cap added.

At the end of the day its no Denali, tin sounding doors and all. I considered adding undercoating and sound deadener but I hear bad things about that too.

I took the rear panels out and put in a layer of hush mat. It helped a bit, but all that plastic is just like a drum head and amplifies road noise. Now I keep a jacket and emergency blanket stuffed in the hollow parts of the "console" back there...that helps more than anything else.

my 2014 always sounded like there was a window open on passenger side rear on my AC.. but did not have a window that opened,, my 15 pro is quiet .. the box on my 14 AC was not centered on frame off almost an inch, i think the air was hitting the box on drivers side and shooting between the cab and box and coming out the other side, passenger side and making that noise..

i have taken mine apart and put back together more times than can i count. insulation is all but non existent. just some fluffy pads under the carpet and here and there. i never really had an expectation of luxury car silence, yes there is some road noise but i find a lot less than most trucks for sure. if it bothers you and if you plan on keeping those bins and stuff behind and under the back seats, maybe try pulling them out and filling the space under/behind them with insulation and then putting them back in place. that may help and not show any signs that anything was done.

just a suggestion, personally i tossed those bins within an hour of purchase :)

I`m used to driving a `72 C 10 with rotted cab corners so the noise from the taco is not that big of a deal. I may stuff something in those boxes though.
