Update...ditched the shitty antena and got a tunable firstick II and now have SWR of

    1.1 on channel 1
    1.1 on channel 19
    1.7 on channel 40

I'm happy with that!....no new coaxle cable needed!

found this thread. I know its old but I was trying to find those who may have multiple antenna's, I have a Yeasu VX7R with a diamond SRH320 on the cab (window mount), also a Cobra 75wxst with a firestick II and about to mount my Yeasu 817ND with a Hamstick for different bands, both larger antenna's will be mounted on rear of bed. My question to those who know about Ham; Do Multiple Antennas cause interference or is it only if multiple radios are on when this would /could occur? I am not really expecting a reply since last post was 12/2014, but you never know. (and for the doubters, I have different radios because they are intended to be different tools). CB=because not everyone has a ham / VX7R because it has 2m, a lot of police are on this freq as well as Hams, 6M and 70cm and the 817 because HF (20M and 40M primary)-well that speaks for itself for those that know. I am a General (which IF you choose to talk on Ham it would be wise to be licensed)

I wil add I use a MFJ tuner and I tune to 27.205Mhz (channel 20) It stays roughly between 1:1 and on either end of the band a 1:4, The Hamsticks don't really need to be tuned but I checked them out and they are 1:1 for both the 20m and 40m sticks.

The bands are far enough apart (except 11 meters) that interference is not a problem. I have a tri-band 6-2- and 70 CM antenna on one side of the back of the bed and a 10-80 meter screwdriver antenna on the other. Yes and if you are a ham it's best to use a 4 watt CB radio and not your ham gear.

I don't understand that statement, why the 4 watt CB vs my QRP HF? If your talking about on the 10M frequencies I understand, but as far as being mobile and able to "reach out" on 20m (day) and 40m (night) I don't. Please explain so I do, even though I have my General I don't have an Elmer or a club near me so I am learning on the fly.
    and thanks for the information.

Generally the lowest power on a ham HF is 5 watts it also will not TX on 11 meters unless it has been tinkered. 10 meters is fine at 100 watts it is a ham band 11 meters (CB band) is not. All of the ham bands can be used at 100 watts 10-160 meters any time day or night so yeah live it up on 20 and 40 meters. The only band you need to be careful with as long as its in the general class band plan is 60 meters so before you try that one read up on it first.

ahhh, I got ya, you were saying stay in the power bands for the CB frequencies hence use a CB, roger that. this is actually why I chose to install the Cobra WXST.
Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it.

An antenna tuner only Protect the Radio and amplifier in use. Anything after the antenna tuner still has the same SWR. So you still have the same reflective power. Have some one with a MFJ 259B antenna analyzer adjust your antenna. You will get better output and receive.

Yes and again ham HF radios will not TX on 11 meters unless someone has done mods to the radio they come that way from the factory so if it's stock you can't use it on 11 meters any way.

They can be tuned, the stinger is long for the band cut it to resonance it should give you a good match no tuner needed. I have several if any one wants them come get them! Or do your self a favor and buy a screw driver antenna.

^ This the only thing a tuner does is allow the radio to TX it's max power into a bad match or what's left of max power to heating in the tuner. It will not fix a bad antenna match.

You can do anything with a good tuner, even load up the truck itself! I used to use my cyclone fence as a longwire.

That is true you could load up a rail road bridge with a antenna coupler but it still would be a lousy antenna you would however be on the air QRP with a 100 watt radio.
