I should have snapped some distance shots but it was kinda tucked behind their new shock display and SEMA was crowded this year. I'll work on some full frame pics. I know ARB just did some product photo shoots with the Tacoma so I'd expect to see them on their website soon.

Question, wouldn't it make more sense to flip the end around so the air intake is facing backwards, then? Or does the snorkel rely on the "scoop" principle to allow air in?

Not necessarily. Water and dust, being heavier than air, will not be able to change direction as well as air and just hit the back of the scoop and fall out. As intended by Safari. The lighter dust particles that manage to make it down the tube will far less than your typical in fender set up. That being said, when I had a snorkel on my Jeep, I ran a quality air filter, not a "performance" filter.

If you really want to protect yourself from dust ingestion, you want to get a pre-cleaner. It does an even better job of separating dust and water before they can enter the intake tube.

Here is one an a Tacoma. The bowl is usually clear with the top being black. It appears that he painted his bowl black.

    Hmm. Interesting. Thanks.

I did not realize there was a 'drain', essentially, under the scoop, I just assumed the entire unit was one piece of plastic.

Spring 2015 gentlemen. You won't see anything online until we get closer to that timeframe.

The bigger question is how you missed the Tacoma that served as the back drop for their booth? :D

It is eh? Still early January (i.e. middle of winter) in my neck of the woods. I still don't expect to see anything until Spring, as in March, April, May spring here in North America. :p

Total non-issue, the snorkel head is designed to drain incoming moisture. I suppose if it was horrible enough that your filter was wetting, you could easily flip the head around as some due in wet snow. Keep in mind 7-11 gas has more water in it than you'll likely get through the intake.

Update from ARB, a finalized prototype is en route to the US from Safari for test fitting. Assuming it checks out we are looking at April'ish ETA on production kits.

Certainly wouldn't be the only one to feel that way and it's rumored they got even bigger with the production version? We'll have to wait to see on that. We can always do batches of the Hilux kits in the future if demand is there, until then we'll still stock the SS135MOD
