I had a 03 double cab prerunner a couple years back, but sold it to get an F150. Now I needed a run around truck that was good on gas, so I didn't have to drive the full size all the time. I found this 07 last week and made a deal on it today. Its just a 5 lug base model with 123k miles, but is clean and has full dealership maintenance history back to day one. I got it for $6k and love it so far. Here she is.

I thought it was a great price as well. I'm undecided if I want to keep the camper shell or not. It's Leer brand with Thule brackets and bars on top. What do you guys think it would be worth if I decided to sell?

Nice truck but I am not sure about buying a Tacoma for fuel economy. They suck on gas.

That is a great price, for reference my buddy just picked up an '07 Reg cab, 5-lug, manual trans in way worse condition, I think he said 165K, needed tires etc.. and he paid $8K and thought that was a bargain for a Tacoma. I don't think Op's truck will ever be worth less than what he paid, even in 10 more years with double the mileage.

I'd keep the shell unless you find you have a reason not to have it on there. They are very useful. Great deal on the truck too BTW

    Nice score especially for $6K.

2wd 4cl/5-speed 5-luggers are too bad. some guys are reporting 27+ mpg on the highway.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm lucky it didn't get sold before I bought it. It was a trade in at the Dodge dealership. The lot price was $7990 and the "internet price" was $6990. I negotiated with them over three day to get it down to $6000. Of course I did have to pay the $300 SC sales tax and their $389 doc. fee so my on the road price was $6689.

I'll probably will leave the shell on. I'll just have to find some sort of box for my tie down straps and a few tools. I have some husky xact contour mats, avs in channel ventvisors, rubber bed mat, and intermittent wiper switch on the way.

I'll be happy with anything over 20mpg. My f150 is killing me at 16mpg. I have a neighbor with the same truck, but with an auto and he says he averages around 24mpg.

Definite Score! I'd keep the shell on if it was me, good dry storage space for a single cab. Nice color too.

    Congrats.
