Plain and simple, I just wanted something comfortable and useful... I had (still have) a 2004 STI that was just brutal on comfort, but also brutally fast and fun. I already had a trail jeep too, so the taco really is only filling the role of a moderately capable truck with some creature comforts. I don't want to go crazy and ruin what makes it so beautiful for me, reliable and comfortable.

I've always wanted a Tacoma. It's practical for where I live. They are reliable and great looking trucks.

Mine came down to price and MPG. I had always had older full size blazers until I bought a Chevy Avalanche. Drove it for 9 years, then let my daughter drive it when she turned 16 and bought a new FJ. I liked the FJ but my family didn't like riding in it and I really needed a truck. I took the FJ back to the dealership and got more than I owed for it and bought the cheapest tacoma they had on the lot. Great price, great mpg. I don't care when I take it off road and scratch it, dent it, or whatever. I figure I'll drive it until it rusts apart. I will be looking for a low mileage FJ in 3 yrs when my daughter graduates college though.

My commuter car, 2004 Ford Focus, was totaled and I had a week to pick out a new vehicle. I had been saving for a few months wanting a new vehicle and was leaning to the Mazdaspeed 3 or a truck as I missed driving one. I previously drove two Dodge 1500 4x4's a 97 and a 99.

Two buddies at work had recently bought used Tacomas. I really liked the way they looked that they had increased the size in 2005. When the car was totaled I only had a few days to figure it all out and had trouble finding one in my price range. I was looking for a 1-3 year old DCLB 4x4 Auto in the 22k-25k range. All of the ones I found were closer to 28k-30k.

On the last day of my search, Friday, on my lunch break a dealership close to me slashed the price of a ACLB, 24.5k. I called and verified it had 4x4 and Auto and decided we would go test it out. If the kids fit in the back safely I would buy it.

They fit, and we got a great deal as it only had 14k miles.

I knew they had a reputation for being reliable and tough as nails. I was also kind of tired of getting a new vehicle every year and wanted to get something fun to drive until the wheels fall off.

I drove a 95 pre-tacoma for 17 years. Didn't need full-size p/u. So what other choices were there... All others in the class are check engine lights waiting to happen. I didn't even test drive, bought over the phone... Told the salesman what I wanted, told him to test it out. If he didn't like it, select a different one for me. Went in wrote the check, drove home...

Taco: Only small size truck with crew cab configuration that offers manual shift...in my personal experience every thing else about my truck has been a utter disaster.
