09 TAIL LIGHT opinions

Just ordered a pair of new tails, I will be working for a week where there is no internet so when I get back they should be waiting for me. I will post pics on this thread when I get back. ( my lift is in the mail to)

LoHoNas - Did you ever do the install with the aftermarket tail lights? Please post some pics if you did!

 

i would also like to see a 2nd gen with these aftermarket led tails. they look legit. only thing i would be worried about is light output?

i own a bodyshop i just sanded them with 600 and then sprayed transparent black on them and cleared them you can go as dark as you want i just didnt want the cops screwing with me i also did the 3rd brake light

 

I have an 09 too and I'm thinking about aftermarket tails for mine too. I've asked questions of a couple of the ebay sellers and no seller has responded. Should I assume they will work?

Does anyone know if the connector is the same?

Will they hook up with out any problems?

I like the silver as much as I like having a silver rear bumper!

Dam, I just noticed this thread has returned from the grave I did actually order from EBAY and install the red led tails in this thread. I think It was like 10 min. to install, worked great no problems, looked like crap,5 min. to reinstall factory 09 tails that I am now used to and like. I just don't like the shape of the red ones. They actually stick out on the sides and ruin the whole profile of the truck.I sold them to a friend that lives close buy I can snap a pic of them on her truck tomorrow and post up!

 

I thought I would like them a lot but after I got them on it just looked weird. It just didn't look like a Toyota .

 

I always thought the 09 tail lights looked like a ricey aftermarket product. I got my 09 in August of 08, and until you saw more 09's out there, I had many ask or comment on my "aftermarket tail lights". I have gotten use to them, but did not like the chrome ring as well.

 

It's direct plug and play.

The turn signals are red because of the lens. The only thing that is LED on those tail lights are the brake lights. The turn signal and reverse are bother incandescent.

I had the ebay LEDs, too. I got the smoked ones and had to tint them to hide all of the visible chrome:











I never got pulled over for them and I live in a city where all cops do are give out lame tickets because the crime rate is so low.

I couldn't stand the rectangular LED formation so I went OEM and got '09s which are brighter and did not stick out:

How did you tint them - as I said they look great! and glossy - nice! Howdudodat?

Do you have any pictures from the side or at an angle from when you had these lights installed? I want to see exactly how much they stick out.

 

i know i'm late on this - but the first ones you showed look very much like 05-08 tail lamps.. why not just post that you'd trade for a set of stock 05-08 lamps for your 09? I know many members here would gladly trade!
