Loud Rumbling noise,,,,sorta like a bad U-Joint but MUCH louder.
Drive on the freeway, (loud rumble right?) now open the rear slider window and the rumble gets REALLY loud. Thats what it was like when my rear carrier bearing started to go.

If it IS the carrier bearing, you'll want to replace it ASAP. If that bearing shrapnels in your rear Diff, it will probably destroy everything in the Pumpkin.

My rear carrier bearing started going bad @ 150,000 miles.
The bearing itself is a Tapered Roller bearing. Its a special Toyota Part, not some standard Generic Bearing.
The Repair was beyond my ability to fix (daily Driver) and cost be $900 to repair at a local Mechanic (not the Dealership). The Bearing kit alone was more than half the cost of the repair.

The carrier bearing/center support bearing is the bearing on the 2 piece driveshaft. It is not in the diff. You are thinking of the pinion bearing.
