I just bought a 2012 Tacoma 4x4 with the V6 and the Access Cab. Its my first truck and I'm just getting used to it. It'll stay pretty much stock since it'll be carting my motorcycle around, carrying building supplies and being used as a daily driver. The most offroading I'll probably be doing is flying down gravel roads in western NC, so you probably wont see any tube bumpers, 4-links or 7" lifts from me.

I'm coming from a BMW that I owned for almost 6 years, so I'm used to a little better ride and handling. I'm thinking that any modifications I make to this truck will be more inclined towards making it ride and handle better without killing the offroad and load carrying abilities of the truck too much. I'm thinking probably a swaybar and better shocks will be in the future of the truck for sure, I might wait until these Bilsteins die first though.

    Out with the old:

    In with the new:

I look forward to finding out the answers to my questions!

why the change? pretty big difference, curious as to why you went that route. Is it because of needing to haul the motorcycle?

    Nice truck BTW, enjoy

That's a big change. I've owned trucks for years. I had a Camry that I traded for the Tacoma. I drove a Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab from 04 to 14 and then I drove the Camry for almost a year. It was a huge change getting used to the truck again. Now 3 weeks into the truck I feel like I've had it for years.

You will love the Taco! Great truck. I doubt you will make it ride like the BMW in anyway shape or form.

I have a 1991 BMW 325i convertible and had a 2004 BMW 330CI for about 2 years. Great cars. The 91 325i doesn't get driven more than 500 miles a year, but I'll never sell it.

I found with AAL rated to be a little stiffer and coils up front that are technically rated to carry some weight in the front it rides alot better (crazy as it sounds) of course some beefier struts. it gets rid of the slight body roll when cornering and on bumps helps keep the tires hugged to the road. thats just my opinion, but i think it rides 10x better than stock.

ALSO ALWAYS remove your tailgate before putting your ramps on to load your bike, just to be on the safe side. they are not designed to take that much load.

nice truck btw, looks brand new! previous owner must have taken very good care of it, congrats on a great find! i am 100% sure you will love it!

That's part of it. I also bought a house that's a bit of a fixer upper. I had to borrow a truck 4 times in the first month and it really pissed me off.

The new place also doesn't have a garage, and I worked so hard to keep the paint on the BMW perfect. It's just not going to happen at this place, and I don't want to feel bad if the paint doesn't sparkle.

Interesting about the add-a-leaf. I've noticed that this truck rides pretty awful, I feel every pebble in the road. I might try the spring upgrade to see if I can fix that.

Also, post up a pic of the '91 325! I love the e30 generation, and once I have a garage again, I'm probably going to buy one to fix up. They're such great cars that were light years ahead if their time.
