Last week while I was pulling a friends truck out of a ditch I feathered my clutch too much (should have put it in low) and smoke billowed out from under the truck like it a 3 alarm fire. Since then it's worked fine but last night backing a trailer up my drive it didn't smoked but it smelled like it did. Can you do damage by feathering it the way I did just the one time? There's 90K on the clock and as far as I know it's the original plates.

Yes you can, vehicles all have dry clutchs and if it smoked like that, I would say you definately damaged it.

Give it a little more time--(glazed clutch) -see what happens.. 90K is a little early to have a clutch replacement--all depends on usage.
    Damage--probably not--excessive wear-YES
