I've been running a camera in the front for about a year and a half. absolutely love it. great for spotting yourself when crawling, and monitoring your winch line during a pull from the driver's seat. plus it freaks your spotter out when you drive a rock section without looking out the window :p
got a few more cameras that will go under the truck for even better self-spotting, but haven't installed them yet.

You'll like it when you're all done, OP

I run a front camera in my '13, but I am after market (alpine)
The front camera is on demand just press the button and the image is in the HU. It is really handy when parking in tight spaces and lots of other applications.

    Button location:

The camera can toggle between 3 modes

Is this a feature available on a certain alpine model or is custom? This is exactly what I want!

Alpine Head unit which I am running
I'm sure there is something newer out as this head unit is now a few years old. Seems the unit will need to support Camera input selection which then gives you the ability to run front and back cameras.
    Specs:
Camera Connection: Camera input Select OFF/Direct/RCA
Camera System Select: Front View Camera, Rear View Camera, Top View Camera

Actually there is a pretty cool install thread on this specific head unit where Fletch and I posted some tips, check it out

I am impressed with this. Can you use the camera while going down the road ?
The only reason i ask is because I know the ford raptor has this option but you can only use in 4 wheel drive

I wondered if other people were thinking about this too. Instead of a 4PDT switch, you could use a 4PDT relay tucked out of the way and control it with any kind of switch, even one that could mount in one of the blanks. This would obviously not be a standard automotive relay, but I'm sure you could find one at any electronics store or in the worst case...Radio Shack.

I might have to try this out myself for tight parking spots.

I can turn the front camera on anytime...however, I never tried turning it on when in reverse as that enables the rear camera. One would ask why would you need the front camera on when backing up? I'm sure there is some application for this situation...
But ya you can see fresh roadkill if that's your thing while you drive

Nice Colin. Off road is the only reason I need the set up. As I mentioned earlier, props to my wife for trying to spot and I love her to death but, it's best she wasn't in the cab when I bashed the F out of the front skid.
I usually don't even get out to look at skid damage but, it was one of the worst hits I've ever taken underneath.

Subscribed. Front camera would be handy even if not strictly necessary. Do want!

Great idea. A preference would be getting this to work with the OEM head unit toggle between front and back camera. However if not possible I'd like to install a rear view mirror with cam display and dedicate it for the rear and head unit for the front. Tippman any additional advice to get started? Thanks.

It's finding all of the factory part numbers on the connector housing. Talking with a Toyota tech, unlike VW who I work for the part numbers are not on the connectors and most parts guys are dumbfounded when you ask them for something that specific

Tippman7641, thanks for the research you are doing. I like your approach and would do the same mod. FYI: I purchased a Garmin dash cam and it is great for general traffic capture, highly recommend it if you drive in city traffic a lot.
